The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

Gap change over last 12 months: 518,083 – Wii U
Total Lead: 1,076,212 – PSV
Wii U Total Sales: 13,510,130
PSV Total Sales: 14,586,342
In the latest month the Wii U fell behind the PlayStation Vita by another 40,684 units. In the last 12 months the Wii U has closed the gap by 518,083 units. The PlayStation Vita currently leads by 1.08 million units.
The PlayStation Vita first launched in December 2011, while the Wii U launched in November 2012. The PlayStation Vita has sold 14.59 million units, while the Wii U has sold 13.51 million units.
With the release of the Nintendo Switch in March 2017 it is now looking unlikely the Wii U will catch up to the PlayStation Vita.

I remember when people were saying WiiU would outsell vita within weeks after its release...lol
The PS Vita won... It's over for the Wii U.
The turtle race still isn't officially over. I'm still saying Vita, but you never know....
I find the tracking questionable. The Vita is probably overtracked ever since that really sudden, questionable adjustment up it got about a year ago. What little shipment info we got on the Vita never really vindicated that kind of adjustment...
;) Ioi has said me ( I was the one who proved the mistake) the he will adjust it down , if the next little shipment info shows again a big deviation from the figure...
Essentially, he he has admitted that adjustment up was erroneous...
Too pitty, because before that increasement, vgc numbers were likely spot on...
Ioi would have already reduced the sales but he is bored...
I partially understand him! It's a hard and demanding task!
He hasn't just to remove what he added but he has also to recount the sales since the time of the adjustement up, wherefore the sales tracking has been inflated since then, till now..
The problem is that we might never have again a shipments estimation from a reputable source...
The only hope is someone to leak the GFK numbers about Europe, most of the additonal sales went there, mainly to smaller markets of Europe.
Anyway, psv may surpass wii u eventually, due to longer life and Japan...
not exactly a fair comparison at this point considering the Vita has NO successor so any Sony handheld fans still sort of have to get it.... meanwhile the Wii U has been ignored AND has a sequel system out soon.
I guess my point is that you'd expect the Vita to be doing better comparatively since it doesn't appear to have anyone coming to replace it on Sony's end
Switch is not only WiiU's and 3ds's end, but also Vita's.
CRIPPLE FIGHT!!!
The Wii U has a slim chance of pulling out a win. Should be able to make up some ground over the holidays, and the eventual fire sale on Wii U stock may push it over the top.
Not enough stock. Vita already won.
What are the sales prediction for the Wii U? I think that Nintendo expected to ship 1 million of units this year.
