Microsoft: 'People Were Asking for Halo Wars 2' - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 10 August 2015 / 4,961 ViewsMicrosoft announced that Halo Wars 2 is being developed by Creative Assembly at Gamescom. According to Microsoft Studios publishing boss, Shannon Loftis, strong support from fans is a key reason for Microsoft's decision to pursue a sequel.

"As a company we’ve been evolving our strategy to be more inclusive of a broader demographic of gaming, and we originally developed Halo Wars to take a genre that existed primarily on PC to Xbox," Loftis told VG24/7. "What we found is that is has appeal across both platforms. Since we launched Windows 10 on July 29, with Xbox built in as part of the core operating system, it was just an absolutely natural decision to go back with Halo Wars 2. In addition, people were asking for it."
"[Halo Wars] was a huge hit. It was hugely popular. It was a non-trivial design test, to take the inputs for an RTS and apply them to console. That was the primary design test the team took on, and I think fans loved it." According to our own figures Halo Wars has sold over 2.5 million units.
Halo Wars 2 is set to release on the Xbox One and PC in 2016.

Halo Wars just makes too much sense for PC. Would of been dumb of MS not to have it on there. I loved the first game, can't wait for HW2 xD
Although Halo Wars didn't have nearly the same size audience that the main Halo games had, it still had a sizable enough audience to justify a sequel. Considering how at home RTS games feel on a PC, they're making a good choice bringing the game to PC right off the bat.
Maybe we should ask Microsoft for another ODST game, make it happen Microsoft!
I was one of those people who asked :P I never thought they'd actually do it though haha. Halo Wars did better sales wise than they originally thought it would :)
Hell, I was asking for Halo Wars 2, and I didn't even play the first game. Good on them for putting it on PC.
