Dear Ubisoft,

In a really exciting announcement today you revealed Rayman Legends for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. One of the best games of the current generation, Rayman Origins was universally adored by press, and released on basically every platform, giving people no excuse to not play it. When Rayman Legends was announced for Wii U many, many people were disappointed. It is a gorgeous and innovative looking sequel, and while the rather ingenious asymmetric multiplayer features of the gamepad look ouststanding, those who do not own a Wii U were really looking for a new Rayman game. So thank you for giving those people the ability to play that game.

Rayman Legends

But what the hell Ubisoft? Why on Earth would you possibly delay the now surely completed Wii U version of the game for 7 months just to line it up with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release? What benefit does that hold to those platform owners? None, insofar as I can tell. Who it does hurt are the (not insubstantial) number of Wii U owners who were planning to buy your game in a scant three weeks.

It's utterly ridiculous to announce such an astronomical delay for a completed version of a game just to allow a simultaneous release for a port. Yes, it probably saves you on marketing. I'm sure you have some carefully calculated corporate benefits in there, and I'm aware that port will take some time. Much of the game was built around the gamepad, but if you had any care at all for those people who were excited about your game already, you would release it on time for those who have very patiently waited through a number of delays already.

So please Ubisoft, don't be jerks. You can release the completed version now while still supporting those eager gamers who don't own a Wii U.

Sincerely,
Nick Pantazis
