The DS was a beast, and wasn't competing against tablets and smartphones. Considering that, the 3DS is doing great.

It's performing well but as I just said in another article about Sony wanting PS4 to do as well as PS2, thinking any system this gen will reach the 150+ million point is completely unrealistic. I highly doubt we'll see any of them break 100 million and I'm not even convinced we'll see any of them hit 80 million.

PS4 will sell 170,000,000...

I feel like the 3DS is the SNES to the DS (NES). It will sell less, but it will have far more memorable games.

Its just the whole R4/M4 cards made the DS sold well

you make a valid point worth researching. Hackers are getting closer to break the 3ds code, maybe when they finally make it work, that might boost 3ds sales as a direct reaction? just saying.

the gap is as big as Wii vs Wii U. 3DS is doing decently though.

It just comes to show how much of a beast DS was.

Still it doesn't mean it's performing badly, I think it was always going to be difficult to compete with their last-gen consoles after how fantastic they both did.
