Microsoft Hires Ex-Sony Worldwide Studios Boss Phil Harrison - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 13 March 2012 / 5,665 Views

Microsoft has confirmed that they have hired Phil Harrison as the corporate vice president of its Interactive Entertainment business. Harrison will lead the Xbox's European game development. The studios include Rare, Lionhead and Soho Productions. Harrison previously was the boss of Sony Worldwide Studios, before his role as the president of Atari.

"We are honored to have Phil join a team that boasts a wealth of talent from across the industry," said Microsoft Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer in a statement. "His experience overseeing global studios and deep industry relationships make him the ideal person to lead our European efforts."

Microsoft made it clear that the hiring had nothing to do with Peter Molyneux resigning from his position as the creative director for Microsoft Game Studios Europe and CEO of the Microsoft owned studio Lionhead. Harrison role at Microsoft will be different from Molyneux.

That's good. Now maybe he can acquire some exclusive games and hire some new studios. Microsoft needs a lot more exclusive titles for this year.

That's a great catch by Microsoft, I didn't read much about him post-Sony, but from what I read before he left the company, he is a brilliant man.

Well I didn't see why Sony had you and they do not need you either :)
I don't know what you did for Atari but good luck with your next job.
Silently preying you will mess up something important for Microsoft :P
