Game Overview

Diablo III is the third installment in the Diablo franchise, a series of dark fantasy, isometric role-playing games developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The game was first announced on June 28, 2008, at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in France, and is set to be released simultaenously on both Windows and Mac in North America and Europe on May 15, 2012.

The game is set some 20 years following the events of Diablo II, and takes place in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series. The player is once again tasked with confronting the evil that threatens Sanctuary, much like the heroes who came before him/her.

-3-surpasses-10-million-sold/ Diablo 3
has sold over 10 million copies.

I'm amazed that the numbers are so low
! None of the Diablo games sold more
3,5 million units ....
Even more
suprising to me is that Skyrim sold
under D3 !
Is this right ? One of the
commentors stated that D3 sold over 10
milion units ......
Why doesn't VG
update these numbers ?

Most sales for this game are digitals.
That's amazing, this really is the
future of gaming.

Lots of those sales are likely digital
sales. While this did great on retail,
digital sales are now the main driving
force of the PC gaming business.

This game seems to be significantly
under tracked. At
Activision/Blizzard's latest Quarterly
Report / Meeting they announce world
wide sales of Diablo III reaching 10
MILLION. This website still has it at
2.57 million, World Wide. Now, I
understand that VgChartz does NOT track
digital sales. But I truly doubt that
digital sales have constituted for 75%
of all sales for this game. I have a
hard time believing that for a game of
this magnitude, only 25% bought the hard
copy.

Regardless, Activision/Blizzard
announced 10 million units sold world
wide
(http://www.videogamer.com/pc/diablo_3/n

monster. Unfortunately, the record
breaking sales figures for this game
does not translate to quality.
