Command & Conquer is 1995 real-time strategy game developed by Westwood Studios, that eventually spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs. It is the first game set in the Tiberium franchise that is set in an alternative history of Earth in the year 1995. The game takes place soon after a meteorite crash lands near the river Tiber in Italy. The meteorite produces an unkown substance dubbed Tiberium, which becomes a highly sought after due to its economic value, becoming the economic life-line within the game. Two factions emerge that fight over the substance, The Global Defense Initiative of the United Nations, with the goal of protecting humanity, and the Brotherhood of Nod, who have their own schemes for the new substance.
