Overview
There is one game in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch, Dead Island (X360). The top five games include Gears of War 3 (X360), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360), Battlefield 3 (X360), Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC), and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360). The top three games have 500,000 or more pre-orders, down from last week, and the top 111 has 200,000 or more pre-orders, down from 12 last week. Two games add 50,000 or more pre-orders, down from three last week and nine add 20,000 or more, down from 11 last week.
Games in final week before launch
Dead Island (X360) is the lone game in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch. The game added 23,000 pre-orders for a grand total of 134,000. Expect first week sales in the Americas to be in the 175,000 to 225,000 unit range.
Other Hot Games
Gears of War 3 (X360) at the top adds 119,000 pre-orders up from 52,000 the previous week. The game currently sits at 1.59 million pre-orders. The game is three weeks away from launch, on September 20 in America and EMEAA and September 22 in Japan. Gears of War 3 is now only one week ahead of Halo: Reach (X360), however Halo: Reach added 203,000 pre-orders three weeks before launch, 84,000 more than Gears of War 3 . If pre-orders don’t pick up it will fall behind Reach next week. Even if the game doesn’t beat out Reach in pre-orders it will be one of the most pre-ordered games in American history.
Battlefield 3 (X360) is up one spot to number three. It adds 28,000 pre-orders, down from 47,000 last week, for a total of 549,000. The PlayStation 3 version is up two spots to number eight. It adds 14,000 pre-orders, down from 16,000 last week, for a total of 244,000. The game is eight weeks away from launch, October 25 in America and October 28 in EMEAA.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) is the second most pre-ordered game as it adds 73,000 pre-orders, up from 47,000 pre-orders the previous week. The game currently has 959,000 pre-orders and is 10 weeks away from launch, November 8 in both America and EMEAA. The game is currently three weeks ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops (X360) the game with the biggest opening in gaming history for any single platform.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3) is up two spots to number six as it adds 21,000 pre-orders up from 12,000 last week. The game is currently at 363,000 pre-orders and will launch in 10 weeks, November 8 in both America and EMEAA. It is currently less than one week ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3), the game with the biggest opening for the PlayStation 3; however it may fall behind Black Ops in two to three weeks.
Also in the top 10: Star Wars: The Old Republic (PC) is up two spots to number four as it adds 29,000 pre-orders, down from 38,000 last week, for a total of 414,000. The game currently has no release date in America.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (X360) is up two spots to number seven as it adds 25,000 pre-orders, up from 23,000 last week, for a total of 401,000. The game is 10 weeks away from launch, November 11 in both America and EMEAA.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (X360) is up two spots to number seven, as it adds 14,000 pre-orders, up from 8,000 last week, for a total of 299,000. The game is 11 weeks away from launch, November 15 in America and EMEAA.
Mass Effect 3 (X360) enters the top 10 at number nine, as it adds 7,000 pre-orders for a total of 212,000. The game is 27 weeks away from launch, March 6, 2012 in America and March 9, 2012 in EMEAA.
Batman: Arkham City (X360) also enters the top 10, as it adds 20,000 pre-orders for a total of 210,000. The game is seven weeks away from launch, October 18 in America and October 21 in EMEAA.
Notable mentions outside the top 10: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) adds 30,000 pre-orders for a total of 192,000. Batman: Arkham City (PS3) adds 20,000 pre-orders for a total of 190,000. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (X360) adds 19,000 pre-orders for a total of 185,000.
Requests from last week’s article for games that are not in the top 20: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection (PS3) adds 4,000 pre-orders for a total of 58,000. Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten (PS3) adds 8,000 pre-orders for a total of 49,000 in its final week before launch. Mass Effect 3 (PS3) adds 2,000 pre-orders for a total of 43,000.

I think MW3 will sell less than Black Ops because it won;t sell anywhere near as well on PS3. I think it will be roughly on par on 360, slightly ahead LTD, though it looks to be launching higher.
200K for Uncharted 3! great stuff, 9 weeks to go should crack 300K easy.
43K for ME3 on PS3 is a good level of pre-orders 27 weeks out. I hope pre-orders eventually get to around 150-200K. I guess how ME3 launches on PS3 will give a good indication of the level of sales off PSN.
you should generate this for europe anf japan too! the dominance of xbox360 games is only present in the US !!! it would be nice to compare the pre-orders of the regions!
