Sony Announces Time & Location for E3 2011 Press Event - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 12 April 2011 / 4,657 Views

Sony has begun sending out invites to its E3 2011 press-event. According to the email several VGChartz staff have recieved, the event will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 5 PM PST (8 PM EST). Sony will be renting out the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, seen below.

E3 technically does not begin until Tuesday morning, so Sony's event should get quite a bit of attention. In previous years, Microsoft has occupied the pre-E3 slot on Sunday (Kinect event in 2010) or Monday, so it will be interesting to see when Microsoft and Nintendo will be holding their annual press events.

I wonder why they need to have the conference in such a huge venue.

It is so they don't have to compete with Apple

Wow, they must have some big announcements. Possibly a PS3 price cut? And most likely NGP will be the main focus of the show.

An arena? Wow. This is NGP's day for sure. Sony looks to be going all out.

@XanderZane, I think I have to ruin your day. Sony make quality, high-end products, if we are rational and look at products from the past $300 is the minimum they will charge us. They can have every penny of it, I am willing to pay up to $500 for this beauty.

I think this is a good timeframe for them. In the previous couple of years, their conference clashed with the opening of E3 proper, and so a lot of people skipped it or left early. Doing it this way will ensure the maximum possible number of attendees.

I Would Love they do their Pre-E3 conference on Morumbi one year.

I bet money that Microsoft Event will be around Noon on the same day. It'll be interesting to see if they can still release the NGP before the end of the year. Hope they show a lot more games for it. I want one, but I'm not paying $300 for it.
