Overview

Two games in the top 20 are in their final week before launch, the same as last week. They include NASCAR 2011: The Game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters also for the PlayStation 3and Xbox 360. The top five games include Gears of War 3 (X360), Mortal Kombat (PS3), SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs (PS3), The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii), and Metal Fight Beyblade (DS). The top three games have 100,000 or more pre-orders. Nine games add 10,000 or more pre-orders this week up from seven the previous week and 12 games add 5,000 or more pre-orders, down from 14 last week.

Games in final week before launch

NASCAR 2011: The Game for the PlayStation 3 is this week’s top game in its final week before launch. The game is at number 10 as it added 10,000 pre-orders this week. The game’s final total is at 62,000. Expect first week sales in America to be in the 75,000 to 110,000 unit range. The Xbox 360 version is also in the top 20, at number 13. The game added 11,000 pre-orders this week for a grand total of 59,000. Expect first week sales to be in the 75,000 to 100,000 unit range. The Wii version of the game won’t be released for another nine weeks May 24.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the one other game in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch. The PlayStation 3 version is at number 11 as it added 13,000 pre-orders this week. Its final total pre-orders are at 60,000. Expect first week sales in America to be in the 75,000 to 110,000 unit range. The Xbox 360 version is at number 15 as it added 15,000 pre-orders in its final week, for a grand total of 56,000. Expect first week sales in America to be in the 75,000 to 100,000 unit range.

Other Hot Games

Two versions of Mortal Kombat are in the top 20, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. They add a combined 35,000 for a total of 222,000. The game is currently four weeks away from launch. The PlayStation 3 version is at number two as it adds 19,000 pre-orders for a total of 127,000. The Xbox 360 version is at number six as it adds 15,000 pre-orders for a total of 95,000.

SOCOM 4

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs (PS3) jumps up four spots to number three as it adds 16,000 pre-orders up from 8,000 last week. The game currently sits at a total of 104,000 and is four weeks away from launch.

Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3 (X360) is at the top and is still 26 weeks away from launch. Gears of War 3 adds 30,000 pre-orders up from 25,000 the previous week. The game currently sits at 238,000 pre-orders.

Also in the top 10: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) at number four adds 2,000 pre-orders the same as last week. The game currently sits at 100,000 pre-orders. The game currently has no release date in America.

Metal Fight Beyblade (DS) up one spot to number five adds just 472 pre-orders this week, which brings it to a total of 96,000 pre-orders. The game has no release date in America.

Brink (X360) up one spot to number seven adds 8,000 pre-orders up from 6,000 the previous week. The game currently sits at a total of 94,000 and is eight weeks away from launch.

Diablo III (PC) is also up one spot to number nine as it adds 1,000 pre-order this week the same as last week. The game currently sits at a total of 81,000 and has no release date in America.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: L.A. Noire for the Xbox 360 adds 7,000 pre-orders for a total of 59,000 and the PlayStation 3 version adds 5,000 for a total of 44,000. Portal 2 (X360) adds 26,000 pre-orders for a total of 53,000.

Gears of War 3 is a beast. 188k more pre-orders then Reach (about 5x as much), 30k added weekly (7.5x as much as Reach), and it's number 1 on the chart (Reach was 10 at this point). This will easily be the best selling HD exclusive this year. Sucks CoD will probably beat it.
