it's kind of sad really, the PSP is a testament to the old age (and in my opinion correct and advisable way) of how console developers think to make a new console.More powerful simply.I prefer powerful consoles to Nintendo's "innovative" consoles.I mean you don't see the PC changing, aside from in terms of power and a lot of people often defend this as a good point. In terms of power, the PSP spreads several kinds of shit over the DS,but the DS is cool cause it has two screens and one of them is touch sensitive.Personally as I'm not a Nintendo fan to any great deal I only really see one worthwhile game on the DS,well one franchise, and that's Pokemon.Everything else on there does not interest me,where as the PSP on the other hand is loaded with the most hardcore franchises and big names and people don't bother to buy them retail cause they can simply hack the system. The PSP though has very clunky controls, and the launch model (PSP-1000) was very slow and a battery drainer.Quite heavy too in comparison to the DS,so Sony's launch on the PSP fucked them.

Only 40titles? Good grief that is shameful. It has around half the amount of the ps3, 360 and wii. Even worse is only 10 games above 2million. Compared to 52 for 360, 32 for wii and 33 for ps3. Less than a 3rd of any other system. I would say that in this day and age selling over a million copies is good but certainly nothing amazing. The thing as well is that it looks like except for monster hunter almost all series did much worse than their console counterparts. 1.6million for GT? 1 million for MGS?

Salnax (on 14 December 2010)

Not very impressive, considering the PSP is about six years old and has sold over 60 million units. The DS is only about twice as popular, but has close to three times as many million sellers. Also note that no one game is a system standard. Even GTA:LCS has only sold to about 10% of PSP owners. The DS has 6 titles that sold about 10% or more, the Wii has 9 including frequently bundled titles, the PS3 has 6, and the 360 has 11. Hell, even Monster Hunter isn't that big! Admittedly, it could be possible that a lot of people play downloadable PSP games, but there it seems more likely to me that PSP owners often use their PSPs as emulators or as a substitute iDevice, capable of playing the occasional GTA along with music and movies.

Kleeyook (on 14 December 2010)

MGS PO only sold 1M to date...... :( No wonder PW didn't do very well. :(

morenoingrato (on 14 December 2010)

what??? psp only has 40 million sellers?? at this rate I wonder if it can hit 50

AdventWolf (on 14 December 2010)

I can't believe Lumines only has 1 million sales even if it is only the Americas, it was a top launch title for the PSP and still one of the best and most addicting games for it!

axumblade (on 14 December 2010)

I know it was heavily bundled but wow @ the sales for Ratchet & Clank....That's almost as much as Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time combined. Also, great sales for GTA and Monster Hunter. MH3P should be in the top 10 by this week and that's after just 2 weeks on the market. GTA has sold over 10 million between 2 games (we won't talk about CW....)
