Samurai Heroes

Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes shows off its latest characters with intense fighting styles and battles with a multitude of enemies.

We already mentioned its announcement earlier today, but check out this trailer from Capcom's Captivate event for the upcoming actioner Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes that's heading to the Wii and PS3:

Personally, I'm curious how (or why) one can fight with six swords simultaneously. That struck me as the most interesting fighter from the trailer.

How's it looking to you?

@kasz: yea I see your point as to what came first. Not denying that it really is a copy. It's like when all those WW2 games came out except on a way smaller scale. Medal of Honor came first but CoD was way bigger type of thing.

It is very interesting though... I'm wondering what the Unification type mode is like. If it's like the DW Empires games or something else.

@Quarashi looks like it's more popular... however it still came WELL after the DW and SW games came out.

They even admit that their point was to make a Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors game but just change stuff around.

"Kobayashi: In Japan, Devil Kings is called Sengoku Basara, and it focuses on Japanese history in the same sense that Dynasty Warriors focuses on Chinese history. So it's similar in that sense, but with a Capcom style, a Capcom flair to it. We took the concept, and said, "What can we do to differentiate this to make this different from the Dynasty Warriors games?" And we decided the secret maybe lay in some other games Capcom has done.""

so it's DW with the main characters on steroids.... but this seems like the wii version and with just 10 ennemies on screen you still have soldiers appearing out of thin air? reminds me of DW2 where you hit air at times...

they have a lot of work to do for it to be fun...

The Anime is pretty good. When I was living over there, the anime and the psp game had just come out and they were going crazy for it. Silly Japanese. Wish it was coming out for 360 because I don't have the other two. =(.

@kasz from what I saw this franchise seemed way bigger over there in Japan than the Samurai Warriors from Koei. The franchise has licenses for like 30 different products. If you search the site for Devil kings or sengoku basara you will find some of the games.

What in the world did they do to Masamune Date. 6 swords? I see to remember that being in an Anime too.

Come to think of it... looking at Yukimaru it looks like this is based off that Anime rather then the usual Samurai Warriors fare.

Oh, its from Capcom... so yeah. It's Capcom's attempt to ripoff Samurai Warriors with a competing warring states period license.

Curious.

Do my ears deceive me, or is that Liam O'Brien voicing Ieyasu?

Ooh, I saw a guy who uses his fists, that makes the game 100% more interesting, since I was heartbroken to find neither Samurai Warriors or Dynasty Warriors gave the option to go bare handed...

I've got to question why it's only on Wii/PS3 though, unless they're planning on using WiiMote/Move, which, if they are, I'll be really excited, because it's another reason to buy Move for me, lol... although I hope it isn't a direct port from Wii to PS3, and that the PS3 is more polished in terms of graphics.
