Famitsu Reveals No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise for PS3 and 360 - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 17 November 2009 / 8,851 Views

It was known that Goichi Suda, also known as Suda 51, creator of Killer 7 and No More Heroes, was trying to expand the audience of his latest creation, with No More Heroes 1 already released for Wii and the 2nd coming next year. It seems that he will do it after all, as Famitsu is reporting that the PS3 and 360 will be getting No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise.

The game will be an enhanced port of the first game, with an Advanced Mode (we guess it's a harder difficulty) and an Erotic Portrait (we don't wanna guess here) added, as well as Japanese dubs. The game will be released on February 25th in Japan. As usual, no info yet of Western release, but it's only logical to think that it will be brought over.

Out of print on the Wii? Would have been one of the games I first buy if I ever got a Wii, but now that it's coming to the other consoles won't have to.

My favorite Wii game comes in HD soon :)

They need to improve the world and side missions, but I'll still buy it cause I loved the original.

Btwm if Super sweet mode has full nudity, the ESRB will label it as AO, which all 3 systems said they wont host AO games on their systems (remember manhunt 2?)

This "Super Sweet" mode interests me greatly.

I don't have next gen console though... Port to PC too maybe? I can only hope :(

This title seems to be out of print, my order for this on Wii got canceled due to out of stock / out of print, Amazon only have copies via 3rd party.

:(

How does this help the PS3, the Wii didn't sell much there.

If you're implying that this may be a hardware seller, you're wrong.

  • 0
Loud_Hot_White_Box (on 18 November 2009)

Smoked Hostage: it'll be way better, and not just in visuals. Further than PS3 ToV was above 360 ToV, I'm predicting.

This mostly helps PS3, obviously, b/c of Japan sales.

SmokedHostage (on 18 November 2009)

Enjoy your 2 year old port, 360/PS3 owners.

Seriously, Goichi Suda is quite the nutcase.

  • 0
scottie (on 18 November 2009)

I cannot stand developers who flat out lie to their fans. Suda 51 you may make awesome games but you are a bad person. When there was all the hubbub about his comments about the next NMH not being on the Wii he went out of his way to state that he meant the Wii 2. Why the hell would you bother lying to people about something like that? He gains nothing from it...

  • 0
zarx (on 18 November 2009)

I wonder how well suda's most successful game will do on other platforms hope it does well but I don't see it doing more than 250 thousand copies on each platform.

I'll probably be buying this.

  • 0

@ CDiablo

It's not going to be full price. It's being released a budget title in Japan, so I'd expect $40 here in the US.

So theres full on nudity in the game? Not just bikinis?

The ESRP will have a feild day im sure.

News hit late tuesday that the beloved Wii brawler, No More Heroes, is being ported to the Xbox 360 and PS3. No Wii to PS3/360 port would be complete with out a healthy dose of controversy, and this game doesn't disappoint. One of the new pieces of content is the ability to play is "Super Sweet" mode. This new mode will feature an open world filled with naked woman whom were previously clothed in the Wii version of the game. The rating is not believed to be changing from the already established M, but it is unknown if compromises will be made to the level of violence while playing in the nudist mode.

The port, which is launching before the release of either HD systems motion controls will obviously not have the same feel as the two year old once Wii exclusive. The port is said to feature new japanese voice acting as well as new outfits for Travis Touchdown and all the ladies of Santa Destroya. A special left hand only control option is also in the works utilizing the left thumb stick and shoulder buttons of the 360 and PS3 controllers. When asked why the title was receiving such a drastic control reconfiguration Suda 51, the games designer, stated that "(The) mature market on the Wii like to shake their right hand when they play, and I feel that is something the other console owners will enjoy as well. No More Heroes on the HD systems will give those gamers a compelling reason to join in the fun, and I think they will fully embrace the feeling". We will have more information on this port as information is made available.

Don't you remember the tilt control of the sword aiming? Probably not, because you don't seem to mention it.

  • 0
DOLBYdigital (on 18 November 2009)

Hmm I just don't see this game being as fun with thumb sticks. The fighting controls basically made the game for me and the wiimote basically made the fighting controls. Being able to end the combo with a satisfying flick of the wrist was like the exclamation point at the end of this sentence!

I don't see this as a bad thing since more Suda for everyone is great.
However I just don't think this game will play as well with a gamepad and may cause some people to get a bad impression of the game or Suda.
Oh well, hope this doesn't distract them from making NMH2 all it can be :)

I don't think it will better...the extra content won't be something that matters...and the game will be realeased quite soon;not sure the wand or/and natal will be there at this moment

@ Bobbuffalo Actualy, Rayman Raving Rabbids was ported to the 360; even though, its only on one HD console.

meh whatever. never liked this game. But is cool.

So this is the first port from a wii that the hd twins have? lol.

  • 0
Avarice28 (on 18 November 2009)

@Gintoki

You are right nothing beats the original on the wii, but with the extra content and possible wand/natal support this could be the exception that breaks the rule.

  • 0
cr00mz (on 18 November 2009)

personaly i thought the game sucked. I dont care much for story in games, if i did i would never have touched a mario or zelda game. Second i hate those beat em up games, like God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Blade with its brainless button mashing.

This game falls into the same category of button mashing, except this game had a hidden appeal, in first its graphics. It might not be the sharpest of most beautiful look graphics ever made, but its stands out among the rest of the game made today, and second the controls.

i dont consider them gimmicky, and think of them as somewhat refreshing, because you dont use them all the time only in certain situations and they actually work, and for me was the only redeeming factor for an otherwise mediocre game.

you want gimmicky controlls? look at any of the showelware games that incorporate mindless wiggle-waggle, now that is gimmicky!

  • 0
ameratsu (on 18 November 2009)

No More Heroes is one of my favorite Wii games, and I'll be sure to pick this up for PS3. I'm not sure why people keep harping on the motion controls though. There were only a few good uses of them in the entire game (recharging the beam katana, wrestling moves, overpowering an enemy during a katana clash). Nothing significant will be lost by removing them all together.

  • 0
loves2splooge (on 18 November 2009)

I don't see how swishing a wii mote into one of four directions for finishing moves and using the mote+chuk for the occassional wrestling move is going to stay amusing for 15+ hours. It's a gimmick. No different than the typical third-party Wii game tacking on motion controls as a gimmick. If you want to show the strength of the Wiimote, Tiger Woods is it. That's an example of the PS360 version having gimped controls in comparison. The Wii's big benefit is that it offers a fresh new gameplay experience. But that is not NMH's appeal. NMH's appeal has to do with it being a 'core' violent game on the Wii console with an interesting story and solid social commentary. Not with the gimmicky controls.

  • 0
primogen18 (on 18 November 2009)

"some more attention" ?! Suda had his best selling game on Wii, and it was never actually advertised, if he wanted more attention, he should have done SOMETHING! Now I bet we will see tons of promotions and advertisements for this game, something they never bothered with on Wii, and it will sell a whole lot more. This will lead to the ever-so-popular "They didn't want it", meaning third parties bitch about games coming out without so much as a whisper not selling millions.

  • 0
cr00mz (on 18 November 2009)

@loves2sploogethe if you think the controls in NMH were gimmicky you dont know what gimmicky is.

Even if the gameplay doesnt change alot, it will positvely feel better doing the finishing moves or wrestling moves using the wiimote than pressing some button.

  • 0
BoneArk (on 18 November 2009)

It is a bit shocking but the Wii gets NMH2 in January. I kinda see how PS3 owners felt when the Metal Gear Solid series was no longer a PS3 exclusive.

Sad day for Wii owners a good day for HD twins. They get an exciting game with some extra content. I will buy the sequel but with this news I doubt it will do better because everyone will wait for the HD version.

Wii exclusive no more.

  • 0
loves2splooge (on 18 November 2009)

NHM's gameplay isn't revolutionary but it doesn't have to be. It's the story and message behind the game that is interesting. Travis Touchdown is a very interesting protagonist (he is shallow yes but there is a lot about his shallow nature that is very telling about our society's views on masculinity and indoctrination of masculinity.) Travis Touchdown is a breath of fresh air. I'd much rather a story about a troubled morally grey and misguided protagonist than all this kawaii desu ne and melodrama that I've been subjected to in jrpgs all these years (I'm absolutely sick of it). The social commentary being indirectly told through his life and his interactions with others makes the game worth considering.

And bloodily decapitating stuff with a lightsaber (which ties into one of the messages Suda51 communicates) is a plus. lol.

I disagree that using a gamepad would gimp the controls. Most of the combat involves using the A button. The motion controls for this game from what I understand are mostly gimmicks (swishing mote in a direction for a finishing move, jerking off the mote for recharging the lightsaber, occassionally pulling off wrestling moves and training with the mote+chuk). It's not like Tiger Woods 10 where the gameplay changes significantly with the motion controls.

What's the deal with making a Wii exclusive into a port on the HD? That's not cool.

  • 0
Cheebee (on 18 November 2009)

Err.. okay.

The HD twins getting a port of a Wii game? XD Lmao.

From those screens, I'm not sure what's improved, it looks pretty much the same as the Wii version. And no motion controls, then? Hmm...

I played the original on the Wii. To be fair I rented it and was not sold with this one. I am happy it gets J-dubs but the English ones were not bad for me. I don't think I will buy it though...Maybe for 5$ bucks...

WAIT EROTIC MODE?

DAY ONE!

@vic-viper - You get me wrong, Im talking specifically about this game by him, thinking its genius. It sucks. Outright lacks any originality. The writing, everything about it sucks. It doesn't push anything forward. Slash and hack gaming is even older than FPS gaming. I am rarely outright disappointed by gaming purchases, but NMH is definitely on the top of my list of most regretted purchases. Your comment about me is like heckling a rookie who has a whole field of potential. You should choose your words wisely because you may seriously regret them in a few years. FPS is an entry point, but the journey and the destination are far greater contributions.

@Chrizum - if that's what you call getting owned, then you must live a life of slavery. :-D

@bdbd - I disagree, Uncharted, Assasin's Creed, etc are much better offerings that NMH could even dream of being for the HD community. There's a higher quality behind HD games that Wii devs tend to cut corners with, and Im talking gameplay, not graphics. There is no immersion quality in NMH. Its shallow with jokes appropriate for a very niche audience.

  • 0
loves2splooge (on 18 November 2009)

Yeah snesboy, I agree. It's going to suck not having a phallic mote to jerk off to when recharging my lightsaber. I hope suda51 implements Natal so that we can simulate jerking off through that. That said, if I get a Wii later, I'll still skip the Wii version because I'd rather have the enhancements. Jerking off the wiimote is a nice novelty but not worth playing the game twice for for me.

XiaoMay (on 18 November 2009)

Well, we already knew about that, since last year we had a financial presentation with games like Little King Story and NMH being ported to PS360 in it.

It was just a matter of time.

Marvelous is in really bad financial situation, since Wii games didnt sell so well...

But you can find NMH on Wii since 2 YEARS at 10$ or less with Wii controles...... altough trophies may interest me...

Anyway, if they have the same treatment for Murasama or Little King's Story, I ll get them a 2nd time !!!

  • 0
Keep_the_change (on 18 November 2009)

Who wants a two year old port with gimped controls????

This ain't gonna sell as good as if it was produced from the ground-up for the two systems. Also, if it is a PS360 game there might be a PC version too.

  • 0

-1 exclusive for Wii.

However, i don`t expect high sales for this on on PS360.
Also, it would be cool, if they add PS3 wands supports later.

@Bardicverse: Sounds like you have alot of discontent for Suda 51. Don't be angry because he's becoming a prolific videogame director and you...well, aren't. Don't worry though I'm sure your pc fps will be a brilliant piece of digital art and bring about a gaming revolution....

  • 0
Chrizum (on 18 November 2009)

I'm not really seeing the point in this... No More Heroes is build on motion controls, and it's controls worked extremely well.

It's a good thing to expand the franchise though, Travis is one of the coolest new characters this generation.

its a good thing to release it on the HD Consoles to expand the market, because it gives suda an excuse to increase NMH2's Sales... i still feel bad for us Ninty fans that where gonna lose an exclusive :(

  • 0
Siko1989 (on 18 November 2009)

damn you suda lol

anyway if he has any plans on releasing it on the HD Consoles, cant he wait for there motion control's? i mean thats what made the game awesome.. i don't think it would be as good with a game pad controllers

  • 0
Kasz216 (on 18 November 2009)

Cool, though it's not going to control as well.

I'd guess they'll have to map stance changes to either square or left trigger...

as for finishing blows... I'm not even sure... second control stick? The same you move with would cause control issues.

  • 0
bdbdbd (on 18 November 2009)

@Bardicverse: What you described fits pretty well what's available on HD systems. But come on, the game did offer a few good laughs with the game being made tongue-in-cheek and the bossfights were fun (other than that, the game is rather mediocre.

@epinefridis: Good point. 360 is the only of the three that can't have the sword recharge without special accessories.

I see the screens and I dont see much of a difference. I wonder how the game is going to be without the Wii controls. They really made the game imo. HD is not enough imo to warrant a purchase of this game over the Wii version. Like I said its the Wii control that made this game, aside from those it was really nothing special

  • 0

i loved the first game on a wii so i will definitely pick it up even if it looks like upscalled wii game. i doubt though it will have huge success on hd twins - it will probably sell the same or worse on both hd platforms simply because it's to obscure.

Great for Suda51 though, glad they could expand their audience a little more, but i wonder how it's going to feel on other systems. Moving the Wii-mote up and down to charge was fun, The PS3 might be able to get something like that going. Oh well, STILL CAN'T WAIT FOR NMH2 WOOO IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME.

This is sweet. Ill be getting this for sure. Ive been intrigued by NMH for quite awhile but I dont have a Wii. Now Ill have the option of playing it on 360. Yay. Seeing that NMH sold tons more in the west, a western release is guaranteed.

  • 0
bardicverse (on 18 November 2009)

Interesting, the most overrated, overhyped game on the Wii being moved to the HD systems. Should put Suda in his place. NMH barely succeeded on a system that gamers were starved on, on systems with an abundance of good core games, this title will fall into obscurity. NMH was a pretty crap game that lacked any memorable moments except for the relief of shutting it off.
