Monster Hunter: World (PS4) debuted at the top of the Japanese charts with sales of 1,245,169 units, according to Media Create for the week ending January 28.

 

The PS4 was the best-selling platform with sales 140,145 units. The Switch sold 47,107 units, the 3DS sold 11,313 units. The PlayStation Vita sold 3,744 units and Xbox One sold 1,686 units.

And apparently estimated over 2 million when including the digital download version, according to Famitsu. Either way, really good start for the game. Even if sales drop off a cliff, I imagine it's already been profitable for Capcom.

Finally a MH game that doesn't look it's from the PS2 era. It looks stunning and the gameplay is perfect. Well deserved.

Monster Hunter World should give a hardware boost for a few weeks. Wouldnt be surprised if next week and the one after, its still ahead of the Switch.

Worldwide it already is lol, in Japan it won't but it still surpassed literally 99% of expectations, including Capcom one, so that's still amazing.
