Anytime you walk into the comments section of a VGChartz article and notice that there is a "Comments below voting threshold," it's probably unsurprisingly Azzanation.

Good sales, should defiantly have good legs as well with the updates through out the year, great job PD

KBG29 (on 14 January 2018)

Bit of a slow start, but I think this is game is going to have the best legs SIEWWS has ever seen. Bring on the updates for Indy, F1, Nascar, NHRA, Off Road Racing, Pikes Peaks Hill Climb, and much, much more, and the legitimate Virtual Racing simulator should find its way to the top of the GT heap all said and done. I think we will see a decent uptick in sales once the official FIA championship starts, and even more once the winners earn their prizes, money, and notoriety.

Europe just love Sony's games. More than half goes there, not eve USA.

Tridrakious (on 14 January 2018)

Racing games in general do better in Europe.

Great work PD. Has anyone compared how GT sells compared to Xbox's top racing game? Is Forza still selling? I believe GT came out 2 weeks after the latest Forza. Hey VGC how about some controversial charts comparing similar games and how their sales compare? It might increase taffric 😜 GT vs Forza or Uncharted Vs Tomb Raider etc, etc.

Heavenly_King (on 15 January 2018)

Good sales :D

Vincoletto (on 14 January 2018)

Not much compared to other gt games, although with digital it might be around 3.5 million. I think they expected much much more

Errorist76 (on 14 January 2018)

This week of November 25th the price drop had just happened. Until today they're easily at 4 million, including digital, already. Outselling GT6 for the same timeframe and the career update had not happened at that date..this game will have legs for years with the constant updates.

Vincoletto (on 15 January 2018)

Yes will have legs but nothing compared to GT5. Also the units sold on release date, at full price, were not big at all for a GT game. After that it will be mostly in promotions with discounted price. From a financial point of view they surely expected much more, this game has been in development for a very long time and probably costed a lot. Btw, I never understood why GT6 never sold that much, it is the best and most complete GT in my opinion, my favourite. Just lacked seattle circuit to be perfect.

I agree...GTS was a victim of bad propaganda. People were expecting a fully fledged GT7 when the game never was announced as such. The shitstorm on Amazon and elsewhere by people who had just bought or Forza fanboys and people who had never even played the game, was indescribable.
I also agree that GT6 was a much better game than GT5 and was the game GT5 should have been to begin with.

Bad sales in my opinion, alot of these sales will be from the bundled $199 Playstation VR headset bundles from Black Friday to Christmas (the game sucks in VR however) and also the retail price plummeted in the UK atleast from launch £45 to pretty much £18 everywhere within a month or so.

mountaindewslave (on 15 January 2018)

that's true, but honestly the racing genre is almost kind of niche at this point. Gran Turismo did fairly well considering racers don't pull the attention they did in, say, the 90s or early 2000s. It is true that Sony was quick to discount or bundle the game though, which does inflate numbers. Anyway.

Errorist76 (on 15 January 2018)

The majority of sales aren't even listed because they will be from the 30,- price drop on digital!

ROCKY223 (on 14 January 2018)

This is just an esport racer, the new stuff added was hardly worth anything. This series has fallen from grace and unless you're a die hard fanboy and will defend anything with your life, you can't deny GT is no longer the king of racing games.

  • -11
Errorist76 (on 15 January 2018)

It's one of the best GT games ever released and many, who have actually played it for longer, agree on that. It's the best GT game since GT4, at least.
All professional sim games also agree it's a much better sim than Forza, on top of that.

Rocky, don't care for this guy. He's not even a sim racer. He hasn't played F7 OR GTS at all, he's just here to troll anything Playstation, as usual.

Yes its me again. Lets not forget this game is also being sold instores for $39aud.. and also bundled riding on the PS4 success train. So are these sales really that good? Id say there not bad however with all the discounted prices, bundled freebies etc i wouldnt be giving high praise for it.

I'm sure you bring this up for Forza Horizon 3 whenever the opportunity arises.

  • +9
Barkley (on 15 January 2018)

Forza 7's terrible first week sales article you respond with defensive posts in favour of Forza. Gran Turismo Sport sells 2m you respond with negative posts against Gran Turismo.
Conclusion: Bias.

@Azzanation I'm not saying you should compare GT:S to FH3. I'm saying that you'd have never made a post like this on an article about a Forza game. Any Forza article you will make positive/defensive comments, any GT article you will make negative comments. As expected.

  • +5
Errorist76 (on 15 January 2018)

"So you now have to compare games that are different genres by ratings haha."

How ironic.
-GTS at release was an online focused competitive sim racer.
-Forza 7 was an offline focused sim-cade.
But you're comparing both as if they were the same genre, completely disregarding that since the reviews the game has greatly improved in the critisised areas AND was always advertised as online-focused.

Barkley (on 15 January 2018)

@Azzanation Irrelevant when your points are about sales. Positive/Defensive about Forza Sales, Negative about GT Sales. If GT:S warrants you posting about how unimpressive the sales are, then that begs the question on why you didn't post the same about Forza. I agree Forza is a better series than GT imo, but that is irrelevant to the point.

WaqarYounis (on 15 January 2018)

Aww, were you so hurt by GT sales compared to that joke sales of forza 7 that you had to talk about review scores in a sales article? GTS murdered F7, deal with it, boy. And thank you barkley for exposing this fraud. Love he was defending those POS week 1 sals of F7 in the other article yet 2M is somehow poor sales to him. Lol GTS is about to ruin his life.

Don't worry about me pal.

  • -4
Azzanation (on 15 January 2018)

@WaqarYounis Thank gawd I don't play sales. I am not even a Sim racer fan haha but go on. Just remember which game took the crown jewels of RGOTY and it did it last year with FH3. To you guys I must be bias because I am the only one that thinks this haha. Yet those reviews and awards you ignore, interesting. The better way to see it is GTS sold better, FM is better.
I love how my points in here have been completely bypassed to result in "Game wars" haha.
@Barkley Guess what, FM7 sales underperformed, considering its a glorified FM6 and FM6 is a glorified FM5. So no I am not sticking up for Forza Motorsport nor do I care for sales. I don't sit at home playing Minecraft saying "Damn this game sold millions of units" haha I prefer the Horizon series. Sim racers can go away.

  • -4
Barkley (on 15 January 2018)

So now you don't care about sales at all, then why did you make your original post that was about... sales. The reason I think you're biased is because you make posts such as "like most Sony consoles, they will keep selling the machines for 10 years and claim how good there consoles sell." It's healthy to think about why you say the things you do sometimes.

  • +6
WaqarYounis (on 15 January 2018)

I don't care about sales but let's downplay GTS sales and defend rubbish F7 sales. I don't care about sales but let's post crap in sales articles. LMAO try fooling someone else, sunshine. It's ok, I know that GTS has absolutely destroyed forza and none cares about Forza games besides US and UK, but you just have to deal with it, bud. Now boast about how amazing forza is in review articles, not sales articles. ;)

Azzanation (on 15 January 2018)

@Barkley I don't care for sales, I wont denie that, however I will state my opinion. You guys still haven't answered my OG Post, guessing you cant argue with that so you have to attack? No problem.
@WaqarYounis Haha sunshine? Okay... I am scared :P Anyway You are really waving those Pom Poms hard. Your doing great. Keep up the good work ;)

Assanation doesn't even own one of those games but still likes to inform us about his wise opinion. Same with VR, that he likes to talk about without having tried it. He's obviously just a very wise person who just "knows" stuff....if it fits in his agenda, of course.

CGI-Quality (on 15 January 2018)

This is the third article I've seen you do this in (and what's the common thread, it's about a Sony game. So, here's a simple warning, stop jumping around looking for trouble, or I'll have to escalate things.

  • +5
CartBlanche (on 15 January 2018)

@Azzanation its intersting that if an Xbox game sells well, that means the game is good regardless of how bad the reviews are, but if a Sony game sells well, inspite of the reviews then it must be those brain washed Sony heads and bundling that must be pushing sales up past anything Forza can muster. Because obviously Sony gamers can't make up their own minds about how good a game is and buy it. Incidentally historically Forza has NEVER outsold GT in any generation. Maybe Microsft could learn a few tricks from Sony about marketing a driving game.
