NBA 2K17 Sells an Estimated 1.05M Units First Week at Retail - Sales

The basketball simulation game from 2K Sports - NBA 2K17 - sold 1,046,118 units first week at retail, according to our estimates. First week sales can be viewed on the VGChartz Global Weekly Chart for the week ending September 17.

Breaking down the sales by platform, the game sold best on the PlayStation 4 with 639,456 units sold (61%), compared to 349,550 units sold on the Xbox One (33%).  It also sold 30,457 units on Xbox 360 (3%) and 26,655 units on the PlayStation 3 (3%).

 

Breaking down the sales by region, the game sold best in the US with 715,916 units sold (68%), despite that figure only representing sales of the Early Tip Off and Legends editions, compared to 106,884 units sold in Europe (10%). Looking more closely at Europe, the game sold an estimated 18,510 units in the UK, 17,952 units in Germany, and 22,399 units in France. 

Here is how NBA 2K17' first week sales compare to other recent games in the franchise:

  1. NBA 2K16 - 1.58 million
  2. NBA 2K17 - 1.05 million
  3. NBA 2K14 - 0.96 million
  4. NBA 2K15 - 0.86 million
  5. NBA 2K12 - 0.83 million
It's important to note that our first week sales estimates for NBA 2K17 in the US do not include sales of the Standard Edition, which released the following week, on 20th September.

NBA 2K17 released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

Digital is having a huge affect. All my friends i know that play the nba games got it digitally this year.

This also doesn't include the standard edition of the game. This is only the early/special editions
