Nolan North: Naughty Dog Scrapped 8 Months of Work on Uncharted 4 - News

Naughty Dog threw away eight months' worth of work on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, according to Nolan North (the voice of Nathan Drake). This occurred after writer Amy Henning left the developer to join Visceral Games.

Nolan North said the following:

"We had shot 8 months of her story and it was all thrown away. The Last of Us guys came in, and you have to understand, new producers, new people, they want to do it. I don't know what happened exactly. Amy is still a very dear friend of mine and she's brilliant but the Last of Us guys were the next team there so they took over and they just wanted their own flavour. They got rid of some of the other people that were involved and just redid their thing.

Great move they made with Troy Baker [who] played my brother and they knew that was going to work because Troy and I are friends and he had done Joel and they knew he and I had good rapport. So it'll be fun, the tone I think is gonna be slightly different. It has to be, you know, you can't have a Robert Ludlum novel that's going to be the same as Steven King. It's just that they're different styles. But it's true to the story."

That certainly explains the delay. I still have full confidence that the story and rest of the game will be excellent.

Anyone else feel like this might be a blessing in disguise?

I do, only because it means that the writing is being 100% done by Druckman and Straley. I'm sure at least something something to her work will still be there, but Straley and Druckman have never let us down.

It's be cool if after the game's out, they show what her story would have been. I really liked Hennig as a writer, so would be cool to see what her plan was.

Is this the reason for the delay?

If my math is right....let's see....Yes....after a trip down to the crime lab, I have busted this case wide open. Eight months of work were lost according to my calculations.
