Earthbound Beginnings Announced for Wii U Virtual Console, Out Today - News

Nintendo has announced, during the pre-show for its Nintendo World Championships, that the prequel to Earthbound - Mother - will release for the first time in the West under the name Earthbound Beginnings.

A trailer was also revealed for the title, which you can view below:

Earthbound Beginnings will be released today, 14th June, on the Wii U eShop.

Why didn't they just keep the original Mother name? I assume that most people would already know what it is.

Well, it depends. A lot of people first knew about EarthBound/Mother through Smash, and might recognise the EarthBound title better.
