Xbox One Increases Gap Over Wii U to 2 Million - News

Microsoft's 8th generation home consoles, the Xbox One, has seen sales jump since the temporary price cut in the US. The $50 price cut has helped push sales to more than 10 million worldwide in the middle of December.

The Xbox One launched a year after its rival, the Wii U, but the gap has shrunk and it overtook it in November of this year. The Xbox One has now outsold the Wii U in worldwide sales by more than two million units.

The Xbox One has sold 10,690,642 units, while the Wii U has sold 8,517,443 units, for the week ending December 20, 2014. The current gap sits at 2.17 million units.

I think it was going to happen, but at least Wii U is performing better.

Wii U has a pretty lacklustre 1st quarter 2015 line up IMO, with better games coming later in 2015. If Jan / Feb are lean months for Nintendo the gap could widen drastically in a short time.

It's good to see the WiiU performing better however this comparison really shows the sales gap. WiiU sales are much better then they were but nowhere near the sales XB1 and PS4 are getting. Anyways, good job Microsoft! Keep up the pace!

I'm liking the X1 so far. Keep it up!

We all knew this was coming, I guess it a long time ago. But it is fine. I love my Wii U and that is all that matters -- all that should matter when it comes to gaming. Love the console for the games of personal taste. That is all there is to it. :) Good job Micro

Here's to the gap growing ever larger and larger. :) Congrats MS!

I would never have guessed that a couple of months ago. Congrats to MS :).

Don't you mean increasing the gap?

Closing what gap? PS4 still consistently sells more, which increases the size of the gap.

Your comment make it seem like you combined both WiiU and Xbox One sales in comparison to PS4 sales
