Ryse Developer Crytek Not Happy with Xbox One Sales - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 09 August 2014 / 12,691 ViewsThe Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome will be coming to the PC. This is following a year where Crytek has seen poor sales and been forced to lay off employees and sell its UK studio. The developer is currently not happy with sales of the Xbox One and is waiting for sales to pick up for the 8th generation consoles before announcing a sequel.
"Ryse is our IP. We do what we want to do with the future of Ryse. This is important," said Crytek boss Cervat Yerli in an interview with Eurogamer. "We are not 100 percent happy with Xbox One sales right now. So we want to wait till the current gen and next gen catches up."
"For Ryse 2, we aren’t saying it’s cancelled. It’s our IP. It just has to wait for the right timing. And the right timing means higher installed base across next-gen," Yerli added.
Yerli also discussed the rumors that Crytek was forced to release Ryse: Son of Rome as a launch title for the Xbox One. He said those rumors weren't true saying the development team and not Microsoft decided to have the game ready by launch.
"We had agreed with Microsoft to put it out on time," said Yerli. "In fact, we had conversations from Microsoft to us, telling us, guys, do you want to push out the game? We wouldn’t be offended by that. But when we let the team choose – not the management – when we asked, guys, do you want to try to get it done by Christmas or do you want to take a few more months time, unanimously they team decided to go for the launch window of a console because that’s something emotional to be a part of."
"To be part of an event like that, you do it once every five to 10 years. So everybody was pushing towards that."

The gameplay sucks and is repetitive.
It's not the fault of X1, the game isn't that good to sell.
I'm gonna say it's a shared blame... the game isn't that "good" but the XOne sales have been average at best. There's also the fact that the XOne's poor hardware forced them to cut corners in resolution and polygons at some point in development.
Globally in the US
If thedrill has proved anything to us
TF on X1 sold more globally for free than any other game on PS4 you mean right? Or if we consider the bundle were sold for less than MSRP (promotions had it for U$450,00) then they paid 50 dollars for you to buy TF so how have it sold more than anything on PS4? Watch Dogs alone outsold TF and wasn't bundled for free.
Of course they aren't happy with the sales...
bwahahaha

It must be frustrating for these developers how they cop so much stupidity by the gamers. To them everything is MS fault? Learn and study the issue before criticizing MS or the other companies. Crytek own and made Ryse not MS, everything about Ryse is Crytek MS only paid for exclusive rights. I hate hearing companies explaining themselves to the dummies, makes the other gamers look stupid. Ryse is an ok and I wouldn't buy it on PC because the game just isn't that great to begin with. It is the best looking game iv played so ill give it that.
Xbox does not have much installed base for hack-n-slash. Truth of the matter is they went on the wrong console.
More of 1.000.000 copies sales and not happy. More gameplay and good games. Crytek should give thanks to microsoft.
so for devs a small userbase is a valid excuse only for non Nintendo platforms?
maybe instead of blaming the installed base they should look at the game they made, it was bad, at best a 6/10 and thats being generous imo. it would be like Atari bitching ET didnt sell cause there werent enough installed base and not that the game was bad. Im not a fan of the xbox one mainly cause the games i want to play on it are on the pc, but to blame installed base for bad sales is just dumb to a point.
Hmm... It'll look stunning on PC but it doesn't address the core gameplay issues that many seem to have with it. I don't think it will sell much more on PC.
Wii U version? :)
Why would this get voted down?
Cause we don't need those kind of games on wii u.
