E3 gave the biggest boost to the Wii U as gamers intent to buy the console jumped by 50 percent, following Nintendo's E3 presentation. This is according to a survey by IHS with GamesIndustry parent company Gamer Network. Anout one thousand hardcore gamers were surveyed before and after E3.

Beore E3 about 13 percent of gamers were intent in purchasing a Wii U, while after E3 it increased to 20 percent. This is the same percent as the Xbox One, which saw a seven percent increase following its E3 presss conference.

The PlayStation 4 is still the leader in the 8th generation console race. However, gamers intent to purchase one decreased from 32 percent before E3 to 28 percent after E3.

I might be a Nintendo fan, but I still found they had the best for reasons I felt were pretty good ones.

  1. Quality
  2. Quantity
  3. Variety
  4. All about games
  5. Didn't spend ages bragging on about crap
  6. It was a straight forward Digital Event showing us what we want to see
  7. Nintendo Treehouse was so much fun and made me feel involved with E3 more than just a day of conferences then done.
  8. Smash tournament was pretty awesome
  9. Supported the console that wasn't doing it's best
  10. They had a extreme amount of fun.

Sony's was really good, but sometimes it got boring and dull and I turned it off during the end due to all the dull speeches. Microsoft's is a big improvement and I hope Phil Spencer carries on fixing the crap Dom Mattrick did, Ubisoft was pretty good and EA was just dead awful.

This is good to know. E3 really did help Nintendo then.

Proof that E3 "doesn't matter"

anout? Beore? Will, I appreciate your articles, but please don't be so haste.

I'm really interested in WiiU vs. XB1 Global sales and PS4 vs. XB1 USA sales. Both competitions are close.

The better each system does the better it is for everybody. Better competition means better products.

If only 89% of the people ever owning a WiiU would buy Zelda :-P ...

I hope Sony learns some lessons from here. I know they can't spend money like Microsoft or Nintendo, but they should at least manage well their limited resources in order to deliver as much as possible and as fast as possible. It doesn't matter much to tell there are 14 internal studios developing for PS4, the games must be launched.

id love to see Microsofts financial Y to Y report, they are making tons of redundancy's in Europe, not something a company would do unless they are in financial difficulty, i don't see how you came to the conclusion Sony can't spend money like Microsoft when Sony have secured a full year of exclusive DLC for Destiny (one of this years most anticipated games), how did Sony out bid Microsoft!

More evidence for the people saying Nintendo won E3 this year.

Sure, that's why PS4 sold 269K in June, Wii U sold 140K and Xbone sold 197K....

That is NA
Globally Wii U outsold XBO in June :)

Online survey? Remember when IGN did a survey and found that 95% of people in the survey preferred PS4 to XBone? PS4 has done great and all, but it definitely hasn't won 19 to 1. These surveys fluctuate based on which console is offering the most at a given, and, really, only hardcore gamers actually pay any mind to them. The majority are simply going to buy what is most likely to satisfy, and for now that's PS4.

So, still higher for PS4. PS4 wins even when it loses.

Sony's E3 was terrbile. It should take no more than 45 minutes and concentrate only on games.

I thought it was great. Best games in the whole conference.

RubberWhistleHistle (on 22 July 2014)

and people said i was crazy for suggesting that xbone+wii u was closing the gap with ps4. YES, i know its 2 against 1 (even though i dont see how that matters) but it doesnt change the fact that people were saying that i was crazy for thinking the ps4 was going to be under 50%

  • -7

No, you aren't crazy, but you have again wrong.
PS4 will sell much more that WiiU+XBOX ONE, like will sell more that WiiU+3DS, PSV+XBOX ONE, and XBOX ONE+WiiU+PSV.

What are you talking about? Halo, Forza, Gears of War, Super Smash Bros, Metroid Prime, Ocarina of Time and Mario Party were all created when XB and Nintendo were selling poorly. Competition makes better products.
