Sony Japan President: Vita Sales have Quadrupled Since Price Cut
by William D'Angelo, posted on 04 March 2013 / 5,395 ViewsPlayStation Vita sales have been well below its main rival the 3DS, but sales have quadrupled in Japan since the price was cut. The announcement comes from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano and translated by Gemutsu.
Sony cut the price of both the 3G and WiFi models in Japan to 19,980 Yen on February 28. The PlayStation Vita had sold just under 12,000 units the week before the price cut according to VGChartz. That would put sales at over 40,000 units the week of the price cut.

Quadruple 1 is only 4. Sure it's better, but it's still getting destroyed by the 3DS.
Nintendo might be selling better, but it does not change the fact that the 3DS is a pile of crap.

If crap sells better than a Sony product, then what does the public think of the product they refuse to buy over a pile of crap?

Even with quadrupled sales the Vita sales will be well below 3DS sales. And the sales will be probably be down again short the price cut.
Questio nis, will Vita remain at the 32,000 - 48,000 weekly sales mark, or will this fade away in a few months because of the lack of games?
That is unsure. The translation may well say 4 times the two past weeks, so 80Kish
Not that great unless there's a sustained baseline increase to about 20K per week. If it flops back to 11K per week then it's been a bit of a wasted exercise.
I predict 23-25k next week, and it will be below 20k again before April. Unless, of course, any strong titles are coming out in the following weeks.

That´s good news for Sony. Those figures would put Vita as the 2nd best sold console of the week. Still, 40k is well under 3DS sales, and we´re still to see how those numbers will hold on next weeks.
