PSV sales are lackluster :-( I wonder when we will start to see some good Japanese content on it. PSP had quite a selection of JRPG's and Japanese developed action games.
It's because of the cheap Japanese publishers who are waiting too long to make the switch. It's the same reason most JRPGs have migrated to PSP and away from consoles, affordability. I've read an industry opinion and it really clears up where all the JRPGs went and why the genre has been seen as in decline. Until these Japanese publishers stop being cheap we won't see that much on the Vita, but I think that they might already be switching over but they have done it so late we won't see the games for a while. They've spent so long developing PS2 and PSP level games they might hit a few bumps in the road making the jump to Vita aswell. There are few JRPGs on current gen home consoles that experience is limited. Publishers have really brought the genre decline upon themselves.
Once the Japanese developers and publishers stop fearing change (which would bring about improvements in various Japanese driven genres, like RPGs) there won't be much in the way of saving them.
Honestly the problems the Japanese publishing arms are seeing is them being very risk adverse and it all stems from them being scared to take on the emerging juggernauts in North America and Europe.
