Nintendo has reported on its sales for its first quarter which ended on June 30. Nintendo recorded a loss of $220 million, an improvement over the $326 million the company lost during the same period a year ago. Sales for the period are down to $1.08 billion, from 1.20 billion a year ago.

Nintendo has also announced that while during the quarter it was still losing money on each 3DS sold. However starting on July 25 the 3DS would no longer be sold below cost.

3DS sales for the quarter reached 1.86 million, more than double the 0.71 million sold a year ago. 3DS software sales reached 7.39 million. Wii sales are down more than 50 percent to 0.71 million, from 1.56 million last year. Wii sold 8.47 million games. DS sales have dropped nearly two thirds to just 0.54 million, while software sales are down to 2.45 million.

19 million 3DS consoles have been sold as of June 30, while 52.81 million software has been sold. The DS has sold 152.05 million units and 908.79 million game and the Wii has sold 96.56 million units.

Nintendo expects to sell an additional 18.5 million 3DS by the end of March 2013, as well as 10.5 million Wii's and 2.5 million DS.

R&D for 3DS & Wii U, and 3DS sold at a loss seemed to have affected the mighty Nintendo. Considering their seemingly dropped support for Wii, it's still not a sizable loss.

Selling the 3DS below cost is something that really hurt the company. It does look like things are on thee up since sales are definitely better now than a year ago. Nintendo should be back at 100 percent before next year.

Is this sold or shipped? If so, we can assume that:

3DS undertracked by around 1mil
Wii undertracked by around 500k
DS...I dunno. But probably undertracked.

So I'd imagine they mean Shipped, not sold...

didn't seem like the greatest earnings, but the stock rallied 7% on the 2 days after earnings so people must think it's better than expected.

I'm pretty sure that 3ds will be the last console sold below cost. MS and Sony will not do that with PSorbis and Durando or any other console they make.

10,5 million Wiis seems a lot, I guess that includes WiiU's figures?

Yeah, I believe so. They said Wii figures include Wii U. Iwata said back in April that they intend to sell 10 million Wii U's, because it will only sell well through the holidays and drop off significantly after December 25th until holiday 2013

I think it does. I think the figures are also from March 2012 to March 2013 and not an "additional 18.5 million," which would indicate June 30 2012 to March 2013.

Why isn't the home page 3DS sales updated. Why is it still at 18.7 when it sold above 19 million. vgChartz has false sales data
