For those of you that played the demo, please do not let it hinder your desire to play this game to the fullest. Final Fantasy XIII is the first game for the Playstation 3 that shows the true power and ability of Sony and Square-Enix. This game begins with you playing as Lightning a converting gunblade wielding warrior on a mission to locate and save her kidnapped sister Serah. She is accompanied by Sazh Katzroy a man with a chocobo in his hair, that he refers to as dad (I'm not yet sure why) but they begin a mission that will change everything and everyone. You are soon introduced to Snow, a man who uses his fists, sharing in the same quest to save Serah, his fiance... on his way he helps to save a large group of captives with the help of some renegade warriors. He attempts to save the mother of a boy named Hope and unfortunately is unable to maintain his grip on her, and she falls to her death. As hope witnesses the death of his mother his heart and spirit is greatly damaged, and he forms something of a grudge against Snow. The only one who takes on the challenge to soothe his anger is a young girl name Vanille, with the liveliest of personalities she is constantly pulling Hope back from the edge of insanity and severe depression. She and Hope head out to catch up to and help Snow and to escape the ever growing danger that held them captive before. While this game has you trading off characters frequently, You only get full control over one character during battle, you are able to adjust the action patterns of your supporting fighters using the paradigm shift, you basically are given different roles, Attacker, Blaster, Healer, and support. The level system is similar to that of the sphere grid from FFX, but you no longer need to find specific spheres, only gain points that count towards whatever you desire them to go towards. The play is fluid, the transitions are quick, the characters have true depth and personality, the scenery is beautiful and the music while not Nobuo still feels true to the series. I suggest that every one of you who owns a PS3 pre-order it, and if you don't have a PS3, get one because I guarantee it won't look as good on the X-box 360 because it wasn't designed around the 360 as it was for the PS3.

A fantastic entry in the series, with it's main flaw being that it takes a very long time for the combat to reveal it's greatness. Makes FF VII look like a pile of oily rags. Set that shit on fire and give FF XIII a try. Before long, you'll be glad Aeris is dead. Message | Report |

Combat was pretty aight, graphics were great, musics were godlike, game was pretty long, but the thing is that the game takes pretty much 25 hours to actually take off and feel like an actual FF game. And it still has meh characters and an average story. The game isn't THAT awful, but it's certainly painful to play at times, since we know it might end up be great, but we have to stick through hours of ultralinear gameplay before it finally gets interesting. FF X was very linear too at the beginning, but it at least made up for it with a great story and a shorter "intro", imo. Message | Report |
