Haze is a first person shooter exclusive to the ps3. The visuals of the main character are not seen because it’s always in first person. In multiplayer the main player isn’t animated well. The main supporting characters can’t be interacted with and have set motions, they do not move when shot or cause damage to enemies when they shoot. The skin tones are very pale and do not have much shading. The NPCs spawn out of nowhere, have many bugs and bad AI. They obstruct doorways and keep shooting if you’re in their line of fire. When they aren’t in combat they are very still even if shot at. The troopers have a horrible graphic. Their body suits glow bright yellow.

Haze switches to third person when driving a vehicle.

The FMV sequences are better than the game itself but are still quite poor, the final FMV in the game involves a land carrier being blown up by an M.M.L missile, where just flames appear. The FMVs also have errors such as somebody talking to no one.

The environments are badly made. Walls consist of blocks of shading colour. When shot the effects look better. There are problems with objects in the environment such as vehicles and guns. The guns in hand do not look exactly like the guns seen on the floor even though they are but If you shoot a gun on the floor it will fly a little distance away. Vehicles are badly animated and tend to cause game lag when they move along the screen. This causes havoc in online multiplayer. When the vehicle is destroyed it just burns. There are many bugs in Haze, for example a level where there is a door into blank white area which you just and die for no reason. It’s all preloaded and there’s no waiting.

Haze has a great single player mode, the story is gripping and encourages persistent gameplay. Unfortunately it does not have the Trophy Achievements feature which shortens the lastability. It has a 1-4 player split screen and online co-op for story mode and for to battle with other players. The story is about a soldier who wants to make a difference. He discovers that he is being used to steal plants to make drugs. The main character changes sides. Haze is set in 2048 when secret military organisations have become popular. There’s a war over the plants between Mantel and people from Boa.

The main goal is to stay alive and kill alot of people and to become a high rank in online play

There are many challenges in story mode with many enemies. Also a good challenge is unlocking the Nightmare difficulty setting and finishing the game on it. A key challenge is the online play where there are rewards for winning games such as going higher in the ranks and just feeling like a really good player.

There are a few things to interact with in Haze, the vehicles can be driven and have turrets on to use. There are guns to take and ammo/grenades to pick up.

There are many rules of damage e.g. the Mantel sniper rifle will do a one hit kill anywhere on the body but the rebel’s sniper will do two thirds of the damage but will kill with a headshot. Assault rifles take 10 to 15 ammo to kill someone but if there headshots its only 3.

There are four difficulties in story mode and a hidden mode for completing the game on all difficulties. The game is ridiculously easy on easy mode, easier than most FPS easy modes, but the Nightmare mode is a challenge to play. In online mode the difficulty is based on the skill of the players. When being shot damage is done to the health bar that regenerates. Also there are lots of invisible walls in the game that stop you from going through certain areas. There are doors that you can’t break until you kill a certain number of enemies.

Haze has a simple linear structure to the story and you win by killing the enemies and moving on to the next areas. In online mission modes it has a very simple mission to finish where each team wants a different outcome.

As an FPS it’s very addictive because you always want to win the next match. The game has so many maps and missions to play it never gets old.
