I came into this game looking for something for my wife and me to play for the weekend. In the end, we found ourselves getting frustrated at this title.
Marble Sage: Kororinpa. The idea sounds fun; Pick an animal marble, and go rolling around a course to find the goal. In fact, it is fun. The first stages are rather easy to get through. The game takes it easy on you, shows you the ropes. As I said, just fun.
Then you unlock worlds like "Candy Island". This is where words like "Harsh", "twisted", and plenty of expletives come into the game. This is where the kids are sent out of the room, and the work begins.
The game plays well and simple. Turn the Wii remote in the direction you wish the ball to go, and it goes. It's similar to Super Monkey ball. The only difference that I could see is that when you turn the world, you can go on its side, or bottom. You can roll slowly down steps, and by turning the controller in the opposite direction you’re currently going, the ball will be flat on what used to be the horizontal part of a step.
There are MANY ball choices. Dog, Cat, Farting Panda Bear, UFO. Some roll slow with great control, some bounce well with very little control. It's your job to unlock them all, and find which ball is easiest to get through a level with.
The music isn't bad. Once you're deep into the game, falling off of ledges, trying to figure out how to drop the ball into the next part of the course, you don't hear much music anymore.
As for graphics, the game looks good. The backgrounds look wonderful, as do the pieces of the courses. Not a bad looking Wii game. (I've seen bad)
One of the fun things I found is the course maker. You collect pieces of courses as you go through the game, and you can create your own, much like Little Big Planet. You can feel as empowered as the developers did when making this evil little title.
Value wise, this game is great. You won't fly through this game in one night, and it's not a full price game. I know seeing a price tag that isn't $49.99 on a Wii game leads some gamers to think it's not worth spending their money. I know the feeling. But I assure you, Marble Saga: Kororinpa isn't just shovel-ware. This is one tough Adventure!

Too bad Konami didn't actually market this game. It's really great. Message | Report |
