I don't normally write reviews of games but I just wanted to share my point of view on this one.
This isn't Mario, Gears of War, God of War or Halo. This is something much more, each of those games are respected in their field of what they do but the day of the mustachio plumber, never ending wars, wrath of god and the Spartan have met their match.
WARNING! This is purely about a fictional game that was made by Capcom. The core game play was not changed (if you suck then get better), so if you hate the controls (lack of lock on), barely any story (no need for one, it's straight forward), and hate wii graphics (go and wait for the (XBOX360 version), then we have an understanding.
I'm not into some complex review BS, let's get straight to the points:
Presentation:
I'm playing this on a 42" plasma with full gold plated component cables, how does the world of monsters look on the white box that could?
Let's just say Nintendo will have to bring their "A" Game for the Legend of Zelda on the wii because right now the amount of details, texture, scope of the world in MH3 just looks amazing. At the top of the volcanic mountain just took me by surprise. Everything is presented so well, and of course let's not forget the gigantic bosses. The sounds, the ROARS of a demon and more just sounds like Capcom didn't hold back. As long as you aren't expecting 1080P type graphics then everything else just adds up to greatness.
Gameplay:
So what's up with that new Classic control pro? is it even playable with the wiimote? Can I still enjoy this with my original classic control?
Well son, this is really the part of the game that will keep you or make you run in fear.
if you're into lenghthy gaming and can handle your self with the wiimote, then by all means go ahead but for the ones that play ti'll our eyes can't stay open after some serious hours of gaming, I would suggest CCP. Why? This game get's really technical in battle, when you're getting trampled in a corner and need to rotate the screen fast for a way out the CCP or CC helps. I would suggest the wiimote for a 3rd person like RE4 because aiming was critical but here unless they did something like that for the gunners then I don't really see the need to use the wiimote unless you can't afford the CC or CCP or just love you're wiimote : )
NO LOCK ON, deal with it. I mean the game is hard and if you suck then I would understand. But having different areas that you need to hit, you would need a multiple angle lock on (bringing the game down to easy/normal difficulty). They didn't change it and I'm sure they would get an earful from the fans if they did. Can you imagine if Square took towns out of DQ series, or made it an action RPG... I would just LOL at the sh*t storm that would happen in Japan.
In gameplay, everything works just great, rotate your camera and make sure you hit that tail, face or whatever you need (certain rare carves come from those pieces), I will say the underwater battles could of used some work, but besides that gameplay shines.
Value:
Jeez, I've bought games that cost 59.99 and after 5 hours the game could only be looked because there is nothing else to it. Was a nice run and maybe if I tried harder I could get an other 5 hours but that's it.
59.99$ bundled with the CCP, going to hit 200 hours this week end and I can easily clock over 1000 hours. The offline will give you 30 or so hours but with a free online co-op 4 player... Well I would suggest you get your wii up and running wifi because the battles online with your friends or strangers will be epic.
Can be an Epic fail if you keep getting wannabes that just use you to help them and take off once their done. But if you have a gang and you play online then by all means you'll get the full value package.
CCP, Wii speak, Keyboard USB... there is no excuse to not go and communicate online. If you are serious, I suggest voice chat because there are just to many intense moments and you need to coordinate your strategy. Hunting for a while to fail because someone couldn't say critical info can suck.
I personally use Skype and it works, I do have the KB also for those typical strangers that love to enter a room that says " playing with "FRIENDS" lol.
It's a light version of an MMORPG, but Capcom does offer maintenance and updated quests for online only. So you can't say you didn't get your moneys worth unless you suck and hate the lack of lock on.
Overall:
I would suggest the game to everyone that doesn't mind a challenge. If you don't have a wii then I would suggest getting one for this. One game you say? Well let's put it this way, this one game can keep you for 100 or 1000 times longer than the other games.
If you loved PSO back then, and missed that type of gaming but harder and with more updates and options at your dispossal then there is only one thing left to say,
Come on down, and join the hunt.

@SlayerRondo It very well could, I plan to pick it up and already had it on the Wii. Coming out early on the Wii U with little competition should help it, plus the 3DS cross play which I think a lot of people will find intriguing. Message | Report |

Hoping Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the WiiU can pull off some impressive numbers as well. PS: I know it's still 3 but also in HD and with tons of New monsters not seen on the Wii version or outside Japan. Message | Report |
