Sonic Adventure is the first step for Sonic into the 3D world of gaming. Does it pay off?
Presentation: Sonic has never looked better in jaw dropping 3D graphics. Easily the best looking game of 1998. Barely any framerate issues and detailed world make this a beautiful game to own.
Gameplay: The controls are nice and simple. Though Big The Cat levels have a tendency to ruin the pace of then game and very much felt tacked on. Amy Rose levels also seemed unecessary mainly cause of the slow pace. Sometimes the camera can get a little out of hand too and have a hard time keeping up with Sonic and Tails on their fast levels. Gamma level play much like a shooter where you do platforming in a specific time and destroy many other enemies with lock on lasrs. It eels very smooth and easy mechanics to use.
Value: The game feature a lenghty campaign which can take over 10 hours to beat. Sadly there is no 2 player mode. There is a unockable time trial mode in which you go on levels you have already completed and beat them as fast as you can. There is also 2 more objectives to each level you've completed.
Overall Sonic Adventure is a must own for Dreamcast owners and truly puts the system to its limits.
