Definately one of the best First Person Shooters This Gen

Before the release of Killzone 2 earlier this year, there was a ton of hype on this game. People were comparing it to Call of Duty & Halo 3, probably 2 of the top FPS franchises around. I'm a huge FPS fan, but the Halo franchise is not my cup of tea. I played them all and I just cant get myself to get into the game. I love the Call of Duty games specifically for the multiplayer and Killzone 2's multiplayer looked promising. So I was very hyped for this game. Then Killzone 2 was released in late February and got a ton of great reviews. I know i'm a little late to the party with this game, but after playing this game, I gotta say it lived up to the hype for me.

Graphically, Killzone 2 looks amazing. It really gets you into the game especially playing it in that crispy fresh looking HD. I just can't describe how awesome the game looks and the setting for the game really gives you that feeling of how dark and gritty Helghan is. One of the best looking games on the PS3. It is up there with Metal Gear Solid 4. Wow. So the presentation is awesome. The story is okay at best you play Sev who is a part of this ISA assult team who is ready to try and take the fight to the Helghast on their home planet and capture Helghan leader Scolar Visari.

Gameplay is great. I mean a its typical FPS. But the weapons are awesome and the way the character moves when you control him along with the graphics really get you into the game and brings you in. Your character would also react to your motions too which i thought was awesome. When you jump the character would react the way an actual person would jump or when you turn he would react the way a real person would move when hes turning with a gun in his hand so you have a great immersion effect. Controls are a little strange though and were the main problem for me. I had to change the controller layout to the Call of Duty controls because the default felt too wierd. It helped me out a lot and felt great because being a fan of the Call of Duty games it was very familiar to me. But sometimes when im turning to shoot an enemy with the right analog stick it would for some reason press down and melee and I would end up dying. So the controls were a little wierd but it doesnt take away from the game so, no worrys.

Along with the campaign is the multiplayer. Multiplayer is a lot of fun. Its your typical deathmatch, team deathmatch, etc. Very remenicent of the Call of Duty online multiplayer. The only thing is the ranking up system. But the gameplay is still awesome. Personally, i prefer the Killzone 2 multiplayer over the Call of Duty multiplayer. Both teams play as either the ISA or the Helghast in many of the online games. You can choose from the different classes and whenever you rank up you will unlock weapons and the many classes. It is a lot of fun and very addicting at times. If you like FPS online games, then you will definately like this one.

Overall Killzone 2 is a solid game. Fun campaign, fun multiplayer, awesome gameplay, and great graphics. Few things I didnt like about the game was the funny controls, story was okay at best, and I wish they could've added the knife and the cover system to the online multiplayer. But other than these few things I still love this game. This is one of the best games on the Playstation 3 and is definately a must own for eveyone who have the system. A solid FPS game. So did it live up to the hype. One word...........................YES
