Some of the ledges that are just out of reach with a double jump (or even a double jump with a jumpkick across a wide chasm) can be reached with Alucard's mist ability. You don't get much distance, but it can make the difference in tight situations.
For example, you can use this exploit to reach the secret room at the very top of the map in stage 6. This will let you get an extra item when playing alone.
