When I first played Super Mario Galaxy, I felt as if I was playing a Mario game for the first time, a feeling I onced perceived when I was just 5; that was 17 years ago. For Nintendo to reinvigorate both the sense of nostalgia and childhood memories into an adult is a rare accomplishment. Even though I'm older now and I have a tendency to play some of the edgier games like No More Heroes and Call of Duty, I still come back to Galaxy because it's a more relaxing and enjoyable game that anyone can play. The graphics are astonishing and not just "for a wii game," the controls are simple and intuitive to get from point A to point B, and the musical score is surprisingly well composed. While there's no voice-dialogue, the grunts and roars from Mario and Bowser are charming enough to overlook this small complaint. On some occasions, I did have a hard time navigating the planets, especially the snow levels, due to bad camera angles. Overall, the game is terrific, and if I had to score it, I believe a 5 out of 5 is what it deserves. Here's looking forward to #2 next year.
