Summary

The Space Pirates, merciless agents of the evil Mother Brain, have stolen the last Metroid from a research station, and once again Mother Brain threatens the safety of the galaxy.

Samus Aran must don her awesome array of high-tech weaponry to retrieve the deadly Metroid hidden deep within the cave-riddled planet Zebes. Super Metroid features excellent graphics, with a huge variety of enemies and worlds to explore.

The side-view action will be familiar to many players, only now there are new weapons and items, including the Grappling Beam, which allows Samus to swing across large chasms, and the X-Ray Scope, which reveals secret passages.

shame it didn't sell well. That game is still one of the best ever created even among modern games.
Sad that Metroid doesn't have a large public it deserves.

For all the love and attention this game got (it deserves it), im surprised it didnt sell better. I thought it would be in the top five at least. Shocked that Metroid 2 beat it, that game sucked IMHO

@PearlJam I agree. I remember when I first played MP1 and got the space jump and tried to do it but when I found out it was just double jump and I was like WTF! You can't skip stuff like in the 2d ones and make your own challenges and I was really skillful in those. Yeah, I think you can get the SJ in MP at the beginning but I simply couldn't do it :( Also, no wall jump and that something awesome in the metroid games and with skills and all, well, you know what I mean. Super Metroid is my favorite Metroid game.
