Quite simply put, this is not the true Sonic Adventure.

Sonic Adventure 1 is my favorite video game of all time. Nothing will ever be better than it. When I think of Sonic Adventure 1, I think of the masterpiece that was and is the SEGA DREAMCAST, my favorite video game console/system of all time. The epic memories...

They're gonna port it to the NINTENDO GAMECUBE? Wait, what?

Alright, let's get this straight. There was a reason why Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was created. Sonic Adventure 2 was released after SEGA announced their plans to drop out of the hardware business. It was not going sell as much as it could. The original Sonic Adventure 2 on SEGA DREAMCAST was superior, but it was very understandable why Sonic Adventure 2 Battle came to be.

Now, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. The original SEGA DREAMCAST version of Sonic Adventure 1, while it could have garnered more, had a sufficient amount of success. To be honest, there isn't much reason to remake it. Sure, this is called Director's Cut but because of that, this was just for adding "new" stuff. But this was a reasonable choice, because if there was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, there could have been a "Oh, what the hell" moment.

Still, by that logic, why couldn't they just simply PORT it? Not remake it. Because this so-called "Director's Cut" thing, while it was going to be for not being on the original platform, is INFERIOR to the original.

I got this for my birthday in 2003. I played this version a lot, but would it have really loyal to the SEGA DREAMCAST to continue playing this inferiority? I couldn't play my SEGA DREAMCAST for years so I was almost forced to play this version, but now I finally play my SEGA DREAMCAST again. So, there's no reason for me to play this inferior port.

I will simply discuss what this versions "adds". If I wanted to play anything else, I'd refer to the original and superior SEGA DREAMCAST version. So, here we go.

Alright, what can easily be noted here are the changed up graphics. Sonic Adventure was state of the art for its time and will always be. In this version, the graphics look good as well, such as the environments. The character models in this version, while nice, look downright INFERIOR to the original's. These models do not always blend the best with the environments. Overall, the graphics here look uglier. Even my uncle could tell that.

The framerate here is nice. It's 60 frames per second. The original version was supposed to run at 60 frames per second but it caused so slowdown that it had to be made at 30 frames per second, which still did the job. And now, this version is 60 frames per second, and when that was last attempted, it caused slowdown. And with that, the framerate lags more in this version. But honestly, framerate brings not much difference to me.

That's really the only thing that's worth noting. Other than that, it adds mostly minor stuff. There is the Mission Mode. That's nice but it has a Sonic X cameo. With CHRIS. That is just UNACCEPTABLE. And the Dreamcast version had several downloadable content to easily counter this.

You get some rewards if you collect Emblems in this version, such as unlockable SEGA GAMEGEAR games. While that is nice, if I were to judge those, I would be judging OTHER games. So, that can't be counted. There's another thing you get when you collect all Emblems and it's a nice addition. But does that make this version better? No.

The Online Features are not in this version but it's not this version's fault that the NINTENDO GAMECUBE couldn't do as many things as the SEGA DREAMCAST. That still makes the SEGA DREAMCAST version better, though. The VMU features are not in this version, because of the NINTENDO GAMECUBE. Apparently to match that, the cable to transfer your Chao into a NINTENDO GAMEBOY ADVANCE is included. This is nice, but the fact is this: TINY CHAO GARDEN doesn't compare to the CHAO ADVENTURES 1 & 2.

Let's get this straight. This version doesn't compare to the original. If you don't own the original then... your loss. You can try this out to get a sneak preview, but don't think that this version has anything on the original. BECAUSE IT DOESN'T.gh

This was a pretty cool game but even the SA games were lacking. No formula beats classic Sonic.

Chao World also needs an epic comeback.

I don't see how the Dreamcast version is better. This version has:

-Improved framerate (60 fps instead of 30)

-Mission mode

-Unlockable GameGear games

-Better Graphics

-Same Chao engine as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle which allowed you to transfer chao between the two games by using your GBA.

The only things that are missing is the online mode and Chao VMU minigame (You can get minigames with GBA too)

So, I don't see how this version is better. Either that or my sarcasm detector is broken. (Looks at Caps Lock cruise control on both comments...)
