'Arkadian Warriors' continues massive Holiday sales, while 'Sensible World of Soccer' stutters
December 22, 2007 -
In a busy Xbox Live Arcade week, Hack-N-Slash RPG 'Arkadian Warriors' from Sierra takes the dominant top spot, garnering over an estimated 12,500 units. The first RPG to the XBLA service has continued it's dominance atop the chart, signaling consumer desire for fresh, innovative genres on the charts.
Showing strong sales also, is the old Amiga classic "The Sensible World of Soccer". Despite being pulled just a few hours after launch (roughly 0800 EST on launch), and the proper version entering on early Friday, sold over 4,000 units. With such a short sales period for the game, sales will be strong throughout next week. Also to be noted: only a meager 10% of SWOS sales are from the United States.
And rounding out the new releases, arcade classic "Tempest" launched to weak, but steady sales. With an estimated 1,500 units sold to consumers, it should be a title to tread water on the charts for weeks and months to come.
XBLA Hits saw strong sales for their 2nd full week. Marble Blast Ultra, Small Arms, Zuma and Bankshot Billiards 2 each saw strong holds in sales for the week, as Marble Blast Ultra leads the pack of reduced-price titles. Total Revenue numbers reflect the reduced price nature of the recent weeks of sales.

In other news, total sales are up 10% on the week, thanks to Arkadian Warriors' stellar 2nd week. AW's sales represent 10% of all XBLA sales in terms of units, and 12% in terms of revenue.
In the middle of the pack, old holdover games such as Spyglass Board Games, Track & Field, and E4 have seen steady sales for the past few weeks. Asteroids & Asteorids Deluxe, and Undertow aren't as lucky. Undertow has seen reduced positioning since launch, and has only sold an estimated 15,000 sales. Ironically, the Xbox 360's standard software strength of Shooter games seem to kill the XBLA games - Undertow is now seeing similar sales to Marathon. Doom is the only FPS on the service to see strong sales.
Next Week's XBLA Game: SpongeBob Squarepants Underpants Slam
A 4 player fighting game. Think a really cheap version of Smash Bros.
As for our charts vs. Major Nelson's:
| Major Nelson | Rank | VGC | |
| Arkadian Warriors | #1 | #1 | |
| Sonic the Hedgehog 2 | #2 | #4 | |

| Uno | #4 | #2 | |

This week's charts, minus the X360 Arcade Pack-ins (Pacman CE, Boom Boom Rocket, normal pos. for UNO), and the 2 new titles. 9 of our top-10 match. If UNO was reduced (due to pack-in skewing), the top list would be even closer. Not bad, eh?

Someone please hurry up and bring out Major Havoc and Gravitar. I will download these games immediately if they every release them. I think Atari owns the rights to both games.

Based on the demo, I thought Arkadian Warriors was garbage and I didn't buy it. I'm glad to see the rest of you did buy it, because I would love to see a ton of RPGs come to the Arcade.
When's Rez coming out again? This year I think? Either way, I wish Sega'd get a move on with some decent titles. They only have five up there, next to God only knows how many VC titles.
Nice list. Now if Sega would only hurry up and release Sonic 3, Streets of Rage 3, and Shinobi Id be a super happy camper.
I bought Arkadian Warriors just after it came out. It's definately not perfect (attack animations are real strange, camera controls are a bit odd), but is like a XBLA version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. And as far as I can tell, it's decently long.
SWOS sales got KILLED because of the delay. I was refreshing the numbers every few seconds after it came out. Had Microsoft not needed to pull the version for 1 and 1/2 days (give or take), sales would of probably been higher than Arkadian Warriors' first week.
SegaSat - There are a few great games that have come out since Sonic 2 - Arkadian Warriors, Gripshift, Puzzle Quest, Switchball, Undertow, and Sensible World of Soccer. Any of those games are very good buys for $10.
Arkadian Warriors seems pretty cool. I might get it when my 360 returns from RROD land.
i want castle crashers........ =(
Sensible World of Soccer sales must hurt for that slight delay to fix that bug. Other than that, XBLA games have been crap for the last couple of months. Last one I bought I think it was Sonic 2. I want Rez already dammit!
awsome i hope people see we wont some RPGS on the arcade
nice
