Xbox Live Arcade Sales Estimates Wk. Ending 12/8/07 - News

Casual Card Game 'Uno' leads weak sales in light of no new games, while some Xbox Arcade Hit titles see strong increases.
Uno leads a very weak market, with sales down nearly 25%, removing free download Carcassonne and it's recent activations from the download it had.
Sales are down to it's lowest levels since the XBLA estimates started - only week November 17ths chart was lower, with a meager $900,000 in revenue from sold titles (not including Carcassonne sales).
Also, this week, Microsoft instituted "Xbox Live Arcade Hits" programs. Each game now features a permanant price drop. [b]this drop is not reflected this week[/b], but will be reflected in every week, and revenue will be calculated properly. There were no new titles.The Arcade Hits are in [b]bold[/b] text.

A few quick notes:
Arcade titles Boom Boom Rocket, Pac-Man CE, and Luxor 2 are vastly inflated. What does this mean? Consumers are buying the Arcade consoles in large-er quanities, and are beginning to effect the sales chart. Take these sales numbers with a grain of salt.
Also, the Arcade Hits program seems to have a noticible effect on the given titles. Marble Blast Ultra had the biggest increase. Other titles recieved strong boosts as well. Boosts are in percentages from last week's numbers:
Marble Blast Ultra: +137%
Small Arms: +81%
Zuma: +73%
Lumnies Live!: +8%
Bankshot Billiards: +5%
Also, for comparison, last week's estimates vs. Microsoft actuals via Major Nelson. Remember, they track Tuesday-Tuesday, whereas we track Saturday-Saturday (therefore Asteroids would be alot higher):

Only 1 of MS's top 10 was way off from our numbers (SF2HF) for the week. Not too bad, atleast IMO. Shrek-N-Roll and Screwjumper! were probably overtracked. Had I lowered their estimates using this week's methods, more titles would of been even closer. Take out the Xbox 360 Arcade titles that have inflated numbers due to new consumers playing their free pack-in titles, and we would be near 90% for titles in the top 10. We're getting closer to being pretty accurate. But there are still lots of things to change.

Nice to see Undertow selling good. It is a really fun game and well designed... Could become a big budget franchise in the future...
I like new original titles on XBLA. Good way for the small developers with great ideas to make a mark and fuel creativity on the platform.

When you hit the "submit news" button, you have to insert a title before you begin typing whatever you want. Once you insert the title, it posts the article, but only adds the actual article once you finish that point. I guess it helps if you accidently screw the news story up, that way you just need to edit/add in the text.
