Ken Kutaragi on the Industry: 'Taking Several Years With Several Thousand People... It's Almost Impossible' - News

Ken Kutaragi, known as the "father of PlayStation," speaking to GamesIndustry at the recent Game Republic New Horizons event in Middlesbrough, UK says he does keep an eye on the video game industry and thinks there is going to be a paradigm shift due to the unsustainable high costs.

"Taking several years with several thousand people… is meaningless. It's almost impossible," said Kutaragi.

He added that video game platforms were once affordable, but are now "super expensive" and becoming out of the reach for more and more people. "Who can buy a super expensive PC? No one."

Kutaragi is now the head of Cyber AI Entertainment and Ascent Robotics, and is the dean of the Faculty of Information Science at the University of Kindai.
