Square Enix has announced the Dragon Quest series has sold over 100 million units worldwide. The figure includes shipped and digitally sold units.
"Hello, everyone," said Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii. "I'm Yuji Horii, game designer. The Dragon Quest series has now surpassed a combined total of 100 million units shipped and downloaded worldwide. Thank you all so much.
"As Dragon Quest reaches its 40th anniversary milestone, I'm filled with gratitude that we can share such wonderful news. We'll continue working hard to bring you adventures that fill you with excitement, and I hope you'll continue to support us.
"Last week, we had the surprise announcement about Torneko, and this December, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is coming. You can meet all kinds of monsters in the demo available now, so I hope you'll enjoy the demo as you look forward to the game's release."
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World will launch for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on December 3.
