This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched in June 2025 and the PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup.

January 2026 is the 8th month that the Nintendo Switch 2 has been available for. During the latest month, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Switch 2 by 145,460 units when you align the launches. The Switch 2 is ahead of the PS5 by 6.48 million units.
The 8th month for the Switch 2 is January 2026, while for the PS5 it is June 2021. The Switch 2 has sold 16.35 million units, while the PS5 sold 9.87 million units during the same timeframe.
The PlayStation 5 sold 90.20 million units to date. The Switch 2 is currently 73.85 million units behind the lifetime sales of the PS5.

Switch 2 doing great. My predictions is it will cruise 2026 pretty well and surpass 2025 mainly cause it has the whole year, but i feel it will start it's peak next year. They will probably launch a lite model and the recent news of Gen 10 launching next year, by the looks of it will be huge. So imo, Switch 2 won't slow down enough to dip below PS5, but it will be interesting to follow.
