The VGChartz sales comparison series of articles are updated monthly and each one focuses on a different sales comparison using our estimated video game hardware figures. The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. Kinda crazy to me how PS4 hit everything right and PS5 has had a very lackluster aura around it for the entire gen yet there is only 2 million difference. PS5 has been declining for 2 years in a row and they had massive sales in 2025. With how it's going, i think it will keep it's decline this year and will be boosted by GTA 6, but will still end up a little under 2025. With all that's going on, i feel like they aren't going to launch a new console soon, so it has good chances with GTA 6 to just leg out PS4.

Nostalgia is quite the thing, but the PS4 first part lineup was actually pretty bad for like the first 3 years

Might also be due to a lack of direct competition, as the last 2 years Xbox has been absolutely floundering now. Switch 1/2 run pretty much a separate race as Playstation/Xbox, so if one of those two flounders, the other one has a clear advantage.

Diagonal resistance holds again, so the gap should further increase in favor of PS4. There's a chance of a trend reversal though, if the gap chart prints an inverted head-and-shoulders pattern and we don't see another local low.
