Capcom is reportedly working on a new Dead Rising game that will star Frank West, according to a report from MP1st that is partially corroborate by sources that spoke with VideoGamesChronicle.
The new Dead Rising game won't be a remaster or remake, but instead a new main entry in the series. Sources claim the game has been in development since alt east 2023 under the codename Rec.
The game is reportedly set to take place in Hollywood with a focus in a massive and enclosed movie studio lot. The main villain will be an "extravagant and deranged film director who forces Frank and other survivors into various trials, all in the pursuit of filming his 'perfect movie.'"
Some game mechanics also reportedly include the return of Frank West's camera for taking photos and of the time limit mechanic. The time limit will be due to the villain threatening Frank and other survivors by potentially blowing up the studio in case they don't follow his orders.
The most recent entry in the series, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, released in September 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
