The VGChartz sales comparison series of articles are updated monthly and each one focuses on a different sales comparison using our estimated video game hardware figures. The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. GTA VI and Wolverine will do it.

The people who'd buy a PS5 for Wolverine already did so for Spider-Man.
GTA VI could do it, assuming it doesn't get delayed again and/or ported immediately to PS6 like GTA V was immediately ported to PS4 following its release on PS3.

14 months isn't "immediately" ported in terms of the PS4 release and times are different now in 2025/6. People are already buying the PS5 for GTA VI today and every day that passes. With the price of components on the raise the PS6 will not be cheap at all. With the 13 year wait for the game, 30-40M still on PS4 waiting to upgrade and holiday discounts going on now consumers are getting ready for GTA now and will continue into next year. No one is going to wait for the PS6 even if it does get ported quickly. A new gen console with limited inventory and high price tag in 2027 doesn't conflict with PS5 overtaking PS4 at any point.

Let's see how much the PS5 will sell this Black Friday. I believe sales will be much higher in Europe.

I expect PS4 to catch it - will then be for GT VI to propel ahead.
