imagine FF17 being released for switch 2 at the same time as PS5

That would benefit Square Enix as much as it would Nintendo. Maybe Nintendo could help Final Fantasy get back on top in Japan.

Nintendo's market share in the Japanese market has probably not been this high since the days of the Famicom.

Even then, they had strong competition from the PC Engine.

The Switch 2 should sell at least 4 million by the end of the year (depending on stock) which would make it more than half way of surpassing the PS5 and should surpass it in late 2026.
What's surprising is the PS5 and Switch have the same percentage drop in the first half of the year at -44%.
Depending how the later half of this year goes I think the Switch will be 1.3 - 1.5 million. For PS5 700k - 900k.
This would be the first time since 2020 that PS sold less than 1 million consoles in a year. (In 2020 the PS4 + PS5 sales were unable to reach 1 million).
