The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.
This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and Switch.
The PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup.

January 2025 is the 51st month the PlayStation 5 has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Nintendo Switch when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 5 by 0.36 million units.
In the last 12 months, the Switch has outsold the PS5 by 8.59 million units. The PS5 is behind the Switch by 12,84 million units.
The PlayStation 5 has sold 72.97 million units in 51 months, while the Nintendo Switch sold 85.81 million units. Month 51 for the PlayStation 5 is January 2025 and for the Nintendo Switch it is May 2021.
The Nintendo Switch crossed 90 million in month 55, 100 million in month 58, and 110 million in month 65. The Nintendo Switch has sold 149.19 million units to date. The PS5 is 76.22 million units behind lifetime Switch sales.

PS5 has no chance to catch up Switch
After 2023 was its peak year it depends how far it was down last year and what it will do this year. Going after PS3's and PS4's curve what will most likley be the case GTA VI will lower its decline but next year it will start loosing steam. Death Stranding 2, GOY or Saros will be nice games but won't change this downward trend. I think we can agree over this that said games won't cause a GTAVI like hype.
