PS5 2024 vs Switch 2023 will be an interesting battle and Switch has a decent chance of winning.
this is…weird? XBSX will likely have the smallest YoY decline of the three systems once the year is finished? Wasn’t XBSX the one with the largest YoY declines nearly every month this year? Or am I misremembering?
(+) XBSX has been consistently up MoM, so YoY isn’t getting any worse.
(+) PS5 will drop significantly compared to last year due to JP sales drop, no major SM2/GoW:R release, pricey PS5 Pro not attracting many repeat/new consumers.
(+) NSW will improve in its YoY margin due to 2023 being “less than powerful” due to TotK boost during May. I don’t anticipate it to improve significantly more than XBSX though.
The 2024 data has an extra week compared to 2023, 2022, and 2021 as we follow the same dates as Circana (NPD). 2024 has 53 weeks for Circana, which they put the extra week in January. The year-over-year % drops would be higher for all 3 if you subtract that extra week.
