The VGChartz sales comparison series of articles are updated monthly and each one focuses on a different sales comparison using our estimated video game hardware figures. The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. Yes, a declining brand that is more profitable than it has ever been before

being more profitable than ever doesn't contradict being a brand in decline. (For instance, the USA is a declining empire yet nominal GDP is stronger than ever.) If Sony doesn't fix their trajectory, PS6 will not be nearly as successful as prior systems. There will be no GTA6 boost to bail them out, and will suffer potentially their worst home console hardware number to date. Sony has chosen to put Playstation in competition against PC via chasing graphical power over all else (including affordability)....this is a losing battle on the long-run.

The USA is not a declining empire, it only appears to be based on conventional economic measures. They, by far have the best military and it will be their military that will keep them their empire status for all of the future. I know what your trying to say but I just couldn't disagree more. They don't even need GTA6 to bail them out, they're doing fine. I just can't see how there are people that believe PlayStation is a brand in decline

(dude got some upvotes from those real american patriots! Wasn't trying to make a poltiical statement btw. I just kinda assumed everyone was in agreement that USA falling in education, health, happiness, economic liberties, etc., relative to the entire developed world is to be considered an empire in decline.)

In any case: in other words, to be a declining anything refers relative to the rest. In a market where the best-selling game of all time is no longer the game with 70mil copies sold but rather >200mil copies sold, where a rival system has nearly 20 titles topping 10mil sales and is crushing through 15mil in its eighth year, where Wukong, Elden Ring, TotK, Hogwarts, Pokémon ScVl, etc., all go on to sell >10mil within a few days, it shouldn't be a crazy assertion to claim that a gaming brand is in decline if they aren't maintaining the momentum of the industry, even if revenue figures are higher now than ever before.

Your looking at it too one dimensionally. You can't just go by game sales. There's DLC's and MTX's. I think your underestimating how much they make from MTX's from COD, Fortnite and Roblox. I think there's just a big shift towards F2P and MTX's
