This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
The Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

March 2024 is the 41st month the Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Xbox One when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox Series X|S by 0.19 million units.
In the last 12 months, the Xbox One has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 2.57 million units. The Xbox Series X|S is currently behind the Xbox One by 2.61 million units.
The Xbox Series X|S has sold 28.30 million units in 41 months, while the Xbox One sold 30.91 million units. Month 41 for the Xbox Series X|S is March 2024 and for the Xbox One is March 2017.
The Xbox One crossed 40 million in month 53, 45 million in month 62, and 50 million in month 71. The Xbox One has sold 57.96 million units lifetime. The Xbox Series X|S is 29.66 million units behind lifetime Xbox One sales.

They are doing ok. Not dead, I thought they would be doing a lot worse but this isn't wii u levels of flop. It still seems to be an ok idea for xbox to carry on making consoles considering there is still a similar amount of demand and 45-50 million is still a good number for a console.
There's no way for it to catch up to the One now, but we've known that for at least months.
What was believed to come in second place for Xbox consoles will now come in third place.
