The VGChartz sales comparison series of articles are updated monthly and each one focuses on a different sales comparison using our estimated video game hardware figures. The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox 360.

The Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the Xbox 360 launched in November 2005 in North America and December 2005 in Europe and Japan. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

June 2023 is the 32nd month the Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Xbox Series X|S when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox S360 by 0.03 million units.

In the last 12 months, the Xbox 360 has caught up to the Xbox Series X|S by 1.39 million units. The Xbox Series X|S is currently ahead by 2.83 million units.

The Xbox Series X|S has sold 22.36 million units in 32 months, while the Xbox 360 sold 19.54 million units. Month 32 for the Xbox Series X|S is June 2023 and for the Xbox 360 is June 2008.

The Xbox 360 did not reach current Xbox Series X|S sales until month 37 when it had sold 23.74 million units.

The Xbox 360 crossed 20 million units sold in month 34, 30 million in month 43, and 40 million in month 54. The Xbox 360 sold 85.73 million units lifetime. The Xbox Series X|S is 63.37 million units behind lifetime Xbox 360 sales.

will starfield do for the series x/s what halo 3 did for the 360?

I don't expect it to be as big of a game as Halo 3. In terms of cultural impact. But it certainly should do well for them coming into the holiday season. Combine that with some nice price cuts and bundles, and they have a lot of potential to finish off the year strong

Microsoft was off to a really good start, but they've been dropping the ball when it comes to consumer interest.

I hope they can get back on track, but I also don't want that to mean even more acquisitions in order for them to do that.

If Gamepass has mostly capped out I'm not really sure where they go other than that, but hopefully buying a 3rd publisher with big multiplat IP would finally make the government say no, especially when they have twice as many studios as Sony now.
