The climb for the Series S in Japan was predicted by people who noted positive chatter on Twitter in Japan with Japanese twitter users saying the Series S is cute. It's the only next-gen console that fits well in small Japanese living spaces, which gives it an advantage.

People laughed at me when I said the look of the console was important when I praised the Xbox Series line of consoles. This is a small vindication, thanks to Japanese who like cute things :D

I hope they not only do this but also bring Persona 5 to Switch and PC.

The current exclusive situation makes me wonder if Atlus/Sega has both a contract with Sony for Persona and one with Nintendo for SMT. That's my theory anyway.

Those are sales for SMT5 are a bit lower than I expected; SMT4 launched at 184k Week 1 back in 2013, and SMT4 Final sold 143k Week 1. Digital Sales probably make up for the gap, but I sort of expected sales to increase over the last entry, given how big Persona 5 was.
