Publisher Microsoft and developer The Initiative at The Game Awards 2020 announced Perfect Dark for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

With Perfect Dark, we’re aiming to deliver a secret agent thriller set in a near-future world.
We have built the Perfect Dark team at The Initiative by bringing in some of the most talented game makers from around the industry who all share a passion for storytelling, world-building and creating memorable game experiences. With the full backing from Xbox Studios to re-imagine one of the best loved IPs from gaming history, we couldn’t be more excited to share some of our early ideas.

About damn time
This is EXACTLY what MS should be doing. Resurrecting prominent titles that familiarize Xbox owners to a new platform. They also need to bring in VR/AR.
It isn't even a question now. I would also argue for a handheld because for me at least they are FAR from dead. But this...is truly a GREAT start.
What has The Initiative done in the past?
I hope this is good. Perfect dark has an interesting universe. But I do worry about projects like this. No matter how experienced a team is there is always the risk of making a hollow game. Whether good or bad, the original creators have a deep understanding of the defining factors to a series. Without that understanding, you can wind up with a sequel in name only.
It's a step in the right direction regardless. Any sequel is usually better than none.
if they deliver this will be gamebreaking hopefully
Even I have high hopes for this. Bring back all the crazy weapons. Laptop Gun, Farsight, Superdragon, Psychosis Gun, etc. Bring back the mission structure. Make multiplayer be small 8 man maps with classic weapon pickup spots, no recharging shields, etc. Bring back the crazy plot involving aliens. Give Joanna enough gadgets and moves to make both Sam Fisher and Snake blush!
About time. This may be the best thing to come out from microsoft xbox in years. Kudos.
